  1. Today I was watching an Ina Garten episode where she's doing appetizers. She ground up her Parm in her Cuisinart food processor just using her main chopping blade and it came out perfectly!
  2. While flipping through channels yesterday I spotted this item. Looks really handy for the garage next to my extra fridge and big upright freezer. I'm always looking for extra storage out there for canned goods and all the extras that I can't fit into my pantry inside. Also I have lots of dog food and doggie products that need shelf space. Free shipping as well as 15% off if one subscribes to their newsletter. I like that it folds flat, too.
  3. My sentiments exactly! When it gets that hot here (between 80 and 100F, I stay inside as much as possible.
  4. I finally got the opportunity to use my new Salad Shooter when I needed a good amount of grated cheddar for my tuna casserole recipe. I'm so please with the results! So easy to do without straining my hands at all. And, a bonus is that it's super easy to clean....the cone comes out along with the housing and both go into the d/w. Unlike my big food processor parts, these take up only a small corner of the top rack. Next I want to try some chopped and sliced vegs. Maybe today or later this week. I'm glad to have a small appliance that I know I'll use. I also want to grate up some parm with it, that will be a good test.

    Air Fryers

They were quite good...maybe I'll give them a couple more minutes next time. Every bit as good as most restaurant fries. I did use seasoned salt, some before cooking, then some added after.

    Air Fryers

French fries made in the air fryer. MDe with about 1 Tbsp. of melted coconut oil. Cooked for 20 mins. At 400F. 1 largish russet in a medium slices. The smell of coconut while frying was a bit off-putting but there was no taste of it. Next time I'll use about a third less oil.
  10. Those are gorgeous loaves!! I can almost smell the cinnamon from here! I would not be able to part with them!
  11. But how did you bake them?

    Sausage Roll Question

My favorite Pennsylvania Dutch turkey dressing recipe uses diced Lil' Smokies. I love the flavor.

    Aldi

Wow Me too...about $5.00 less here.
  14. Check the cows' feet?
  15. I have the 9" Pain de Mie as well and I like the results I get from KAF's recipes for the smaller Pullman loaves.
  16. I used to be 5'8”; now the drs. nurse tells me I'm barely 5’6”...just a bit wider!
  17. The weather has gotten cold evough these days that it's time for my Percolator Punch recipe. Stopped at the grocery store for the cranberry juice and pineapple juice. That, mixed with a couple cups of water, bit of brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice and a pinch of salt. Then it goes into the percolator (the spices go into the basket). Don't forget to add the spirits when serving. I imagine that this could also be made on the stovetop or in a slow cooker (the spices in a sachet). It makes the whole house smell divine.
  18. White Cheddar Cauliflower Gratiin looks like a good side for the big dinner.
  19. I used the pre-heat option because of the potato mixture (potatoes and water too hot, so I chilled over ice...leading to very cold potatoes). I will give it another shot during which I'll keep checking the rise. (It's just one of those things that irks me when I can't get it right.)
  20. That bread (and everything else shown) looks wonderful!

    Dinner 2017 (Part 6)

Duvel, I lingered over that biscuit mix when I was in the grocery store earlier in the week. I've been told before that it's really good though I've never tried it. I think I will now, having seen yours! There's no Red Lobster within several hours drive from here.
  22. Thanks for asking, Eric, it actually tasted very good, it is a good, well-tested recipe.
  23. The recipe calls for 2-¼ tsps. yeast. And, yes, the dough was a bit wet; I added some additional flour but was afraid to add too much. Thanks for your advice, perhaps I'll give it another try. I really did want to have a successful in-machine bake. I want to make the KAF Sourdough Raisin Bread by baking in the machine, I could try that one next.
  24. Used the 'Basic' setting with medium crust.
