  1. Here's a quick write-up in The Leader
  2. First time at TPC last night and I was quite impressed with the quality of the fish. Both the ahi tuna and red snapper were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We also had a nice roasted cauliflower soup and sauteed brie salad. Might have to check them out for brunch now...
  3. I went there a few years ago to see a band. It didn't look like they served food, but maybe they've changed since then.
  4. That's like the third time you have said they're inconsistent, but have you been there yet? I have, and while I'm no bbq expert, I thought the food was very good to excellent, especially the pulled pork. I haven't travelled the country for bbq like some of the people on this thread, but the meat and sides were tasty and I would definitely go back.
  5. I'm a smoker and have no problem with a ban on smoking in restaurants. In bars, however, I think it should be the owner's decision. A bar is a place where people go to drink, smoke, listen to loud music, etc. There should at least be a choice between a smoking/non-smoking bar rather than an all out ban. I'm sure both types of operations would do just fine.
  6. We went to China 46 about 8 times this year and they delivered every time. I love that place. Great food and it's so affordable. 2nd place would go to Epernay.
  7. We went last night (Saturday) at around 9:30. We were told there was a half hour wait, but got a table in 10 minutes. We got the extreme sampler plus one app. I'm not that good with food descriptions, so here's my synopsis: Service: very attentive. The server came by to check on us at least 5 times. Brisket: just OK, would not order again (although I forgot to order the "deckle") Fried green tomatoes w/shrimp remoulade: nothing special, would not order again Dinosaur Ale and Ithaca Nut Brown: both winners Chicken: very tasty and juicy, very good (mojito sauce was good but not necessary) Ribs: very good BBQ Beans and coleslaw: very good Pulled pork: excellent Wango Tango sauce: good stuff, nice kick...but not too hot, like their other hot sauce Cornbread: very good Atmosphere: loud/raucous...I liked it. A waitress threw a crumpled up piece of paper at me to get my attention when we were waiting at the the bar to see if I wanted to just eat at the bar table. My kind of place. I would go back, especially because this bill came to like $45 before tip.
  8. My family's background is Sicilian and we call it sauce. My friend's background (we live in the same town) is also Sicilian and they call it gravy. No rhyme or reason I guess.....
  9. Sorry if you took offense to that, but don't get too excited...no one is dicking on Nutley here. I have lived in this area my entire life. I realize it has much to offer. I just meant that for cheap eats, it's a much better option than the 458 generic pizza/sub shop/diner/chinese take-out places that are omnipresent. Hope that cleared things up.
  10. We went to Thai Orchid last night and were pretty impressed. I had the shrimp panang curry, which had great flavor, although I ordered it "hot" and it was relatively mild. My wife a noodle dish with shrimp, eggs, and lime...also quite passable. The space is small, but it's very clean and the server was friendly and attentive. It seems like a nice alternative to the usual crap if you live in the area.
  11. Did you add the extra water or just go with the wine and stock?
  12. I had this dish in France and it also included lardons, which I thought were a great addition. Was that an anomaly? Even if it's unconventional, I might have to add them to the dish when making this recipe....
  13. I'm with you padre. The Macallan is smoove. I love that stuff.
  14. The thai place in Totowa is River Kwai Thai. It seemed to be BYO.

Here's a good recipe for blue cheese (and wings) from Rosengarten's old show Taste. Blue cheese
  16. I've been to La Isla, it's very good. I just wouldn't think it's on the way home.....
  17. I have to add (again) that the frisee salad is outrageous. I keep wanting to try something new, like the mussels that everyone raves about, but I end up ordering it every time I'm there.
  18. Where is La Isla? You're not talking about that place in Hoboken, are you?
  19. Murray's Cheese Online Make sure you get the Pleasant Ridge Reserve.
  20. Does Greek Delights take reservations? Doesn't seem like they would, but you never know....
  21. That seems like a lot of driving, but that's really up to you. It appears that you're into gardens...are you going to Giverny? It was well worth the trip. Also, don't miss Mont St. Michel. Have great trip.
  22. We passed this place on the walk to Mignon. It looks like it's getting ready to open in a few weeks. The menu sounds promising...here's the website.
  23. It was like that the 3 times I've been there as well (all Saturdays). The food was great each time. That zhou yow pork shoulder is awesome.
