Tetilla (from Spain), which I believe translates into "nipple".

My wife picked up some take-out from River Kwai Thai and said the wait was very long (still new...working out the kinks). The dishes we ordered had good flavor, especially the 2 dishes with chicken (Singapore noodles and BBQ chicken). I had the Panang curry (beef) and ordered it "hot". It had a little kick, but not the usual "hot" you expect at a Thai restaurant. I suggest you order it extra hot if you're a chili-head. This place definitely has some promise, and was certainly needed in that culinary wasteland (where Rt. 46W meets 23 and 80).

The 2 popular ones are Argyle and Thistle (both on Kearny Ave. I think). I can't vouch for them, since I haven't been to either, but they are the most well known. There are still a few Irish/Scottish stores in Kearny (like Stewarts). Do a search in the NJ forum for Kearny...I know there is a thread on fish and chips in here somewhere. Edit: Here's the thread

Here's a MunchMobile article (Star Ledger) with some other options. Rodizio

I've mentioned it here before, but I prefer Brasilia on Ferry St. in Newark (it's on the second floor). I would go for the "picanha only" option. It's not the place to hit if atmosphere is a big deal to you. Do a search here for "rodizio" and you will find a bunch of threads with many different options.

We got some of the Mt. Tam at Murray's too. Very good...much like St. Andre.

Since I still haven't received my cheese from fromages.com (thanks FDA!), I went to Murray's this weekend. The hands-down winner of that trip was the Pleasant Ridge Reserve (from Wisconsin), a semi-hard cow's milk cheese. It was fantastic. You can either get it delivered from Murray's or buy it direct from Upland's Cheese. Truly excellent cheese.

The spirilish cut you mention is the picanha, or top sirloin. I believe this is a cut that can only be found is Brazilian/Portuguese markets and restaurants. It is usually served with a nice strip of fat attached, which in my opinion adds tremendously to the flavor of the meat and should be eaten along with each bite. Much like a hangar steak, if this cut is cooked beyond medium rare, it's ruined. The cut is usually covered with kosher salt before grilling, then it is shaken or tapped off the meat when the spit is taken off the grill.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about Brasilia, 132 Ferry St. Awesome picanha.

Definitely do not miss Oasis on Quinta Avenida and 12th. Get the shrimp tacos and fresh guacamole and you will not be disappointed. The higher end places are not worth it in PDC, but that's just my opinion. You will find tons of info about PDC on this site Playa Del Carmen Info. Have a great trip!

FedEx claims the FDA needs documents of origin of shipment. Then it has to clear customs. I don't expect we'll see our cheese any time soon. FedEx went as far as asking for my social security number so they can start a file on me. I started to feel like I did something wrong by buying friggin' cheese . Mods: Sorry to take this OT...maybe it should be a new topic?

The best place to buy these cheeses considering where you (and I) live is fromages.com. Overnight delivery from France. I've ordered from them many times. They're reliable - and their cheeses are wonderful. Robyn I currently have an order in with fromages.com that was supposed to be delivered today, but I'm now being told by FedEx that it's being held up by the FDA in Newark. I have no idea when I'll receive the cheese...I was told it could be as long as a week from now. I hope this is an anomaly.

Yes, the wings at Dominos are ass, but if you HAVE to have something there, try the chicken kickers. They're basically chicken nuggets with hot sauce, but much better than those rubbery wings.

Jon, from what I remember from the BK thread, I think the term is "Off The Broiler". Maybe that's why they were confused. As I off-topically mentioned on the Bayless thread, I thought the sauce ruined the Angus burger. They should just use this bigger patty for the Whopper.
-
he's got a crappy goatee. BK in hackensack is now advertising angus burgers. i'm not sure if that's been mentioned on egullet yet. Don't waste your money. It's just a thicker burger, but they load it with nasty ass bbq sauce. On the other hand, the new chicken sandwich is pretty good.

Staying and dining at O. Roellinger was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to France last year. If you have time, get some local oysters for lunch.

I'm not so sure about that. The Portuguese resaurants in Newark are run by Potuguese and cater mainly to Spanish and Portuguese clientele. I believe the ironbound has a far greater concentration of Portuguese than NYC, so I doubt the resaurants could really be called touristy. I'm sure there are great Iberian restos in NYC, but I believe you can get a pretty authentic meal in Newark (the Renaissance City ).

We went to Brasilia on Ferry in Newark again last night and it was the best rodizio I've had in long time. The other meats are OK, but the star of the show is clearly the picanha (top sirloin). Perfectly rare/mr, juicy as hell, and just the right amount of salt. It's worth getting just the picanha rodizio, which is more expensive, but then you're guaranteed to get the outside slices off the skewer (which must be eaten with all the fat on to get the full effect). The room really is nothing to write home about, but the meat is fantastic. They make a good caipirinha as well. Brasilia 132 Ferry St. Newark

Is the screen name "Captain Douchebag" taken yet?

Praising this restaurant was the first post for both and both signed up on the same day...what are the odds?
-
Yeah, my guess is that if they could pull it off, it would be noticeably better. However, the logistics of that seem impossible.
-
I've been hearing radio ads for this lately. Supposedly in stores the same day it's bottled. Anyone tried it yet?

Brasilia on Ferry St. in Newark is a good example of an authentic Brazilian churrascaria. It's a small place on the second floor, but it's very good.
-
There are, but none you'd really want to sit down and eat at. We have a place down the block from us, Brazilian Spices, that delivers.
