Dumb question. I assume you shipped the CSO back in the box the new one came in?
-
Is that in Woodbridge? If it is, is it far off the 407? We are going to Burlington next weekend.

I dunno @Shelby. Got enough butter on that bread?

Amazon got back to me and directed me to Cuisinart. @JoNorvelleWalker is that what you had to do? If yes, how hard/easy did they make it to return the thing?.

I knew I could count on you to cheer me up.🙂

It just happened once but I am under no illusions that it won't get worse. The same thing happened to my Breville Smart Oven but it was well past warranty and I had had it for a number of years so I didn't feel too bad when it quit. So, I am familiar with fans quitting. I bought it from Amazon so I will write to them to see what they have to say. It could be tricky sending it back in the box it came in - it has been converted into a house for our cat Zeus thus has a "door" cut out of the side.

It was purchased in June of last year.

@pastrygirl Nice haul!

Well, now, that sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about it?

I watched this but it is not what I am after, but thank you for posting this. I have seen Poruguese tarts but have never had one. Now that I know what goes into making them, I'll have to try one.

I just happen to have some unbaked, all butter croissants from Costco in the freezer. I think I'll give this a shot.

I turned on my little oven this morning and it is working but for the first several seconds, it made this horrible grinding noise. Anyone else ever experience this?

I had an epic fail this week. I wanted corn risotto and I had a recipe for cod fish cakes that also had some corn in it that was to go with it.. I should have known better than to use out of season corn. The cod cakes would not hold together when made as per the recipe. I kept adding panko until they were somewhat glued together but then they wanted to fall apart in the frying pan. The corn risotto was fibrous. Not a pleasant meal.

@Kim Shook Thank you. How important is the orange? Could you taste it? The link, BTW, no longer works.
-
@Kim Shook Can you tell me what recipe you used? I was all set today to try to make these again using the same recipe as the one I used before but decided against it.

I don't know about anywhere else, but Canadian brands of peanut oil are flavorless. However, I buy a peanut oil at an Asian store which comes from Taiwan and it is very peanuty.

@Alex The comments make for some interesting reading. Thanks for posting this.

Here in Canada, Robin Hood bread flour is 13% protein while their all purpose flour, both bleached and unbleached are 12%.

Another dish from Janet Zimmerman's The Ultimare Instant Pot Cookbook for Two. This is teriyaki chicken. Rather than toss the marinade I reduced it a bit and thickened it with a cornstarch slurry to thicken to sauce the chicken. If anyone else makes this, I'd recommend doing this. Edited to add: the uncooked rice was put in the bottom of the pot, the chicken was placed on top and was cooked like that.
