  1. When we first got there, there's a very long line for the cash. I think there were only 2 of maybe 10 open along with the self-checkout. There was someone there who kept everyone in line which included someone butting in and sending her to the back of it. By the time we were finished, there was one person ahead of us. We were lucky because another long line was forming. A couple of things I had neglected to mention - there was lots of rice in all sizes, and types. One thing they did not have were clementines. I shopped for my neighbour who is self-isolating and she wanted clementines. Bought mandarines instead. They had everything else she wanted.
  2. We went grocery shopping today (Loblaw's) the first time in a week. We got everything on our list except a tube of tomato paste. Our list included frozen vegetables (sorry, Anna), fresh veg., milk, sour cream. And a bunch of other stuff. No meat. The store seemed fully stocked, including toilet paper but no disinfectant of any sort. They had a security person standing outside, limiting the number of people who could be in there at one time. Carts were outside, lysol and paper towels were provided so you could clean the cart.
  3. I'd eat any of them in a heartbeat.
  4. @liuzhou Ouch! That looks painful. I hope it heals soon.
  5. We were Dutch immigrants. Corn was thought to be only fit for animals, it was never eaten by people in the old country. Having moved here, we tried people corn and liked it. I remember my grandmother coming for a visit and being shocked! shocked I tell you! that we were eating corn. By the time she went home, she was eating it too.
  6. How "CHEWY" or hard are those things?
  7. That's okay. Did you mean Balderson's or is there another one at Costco that I haven't seen?
  8. Old Croc smoked cheddar?
  9. I haven't seen the smoked cheddar and have only had the extra sharp. I buy it whenever our local shop has it. It is not a regular item and when I am able to buy it, it is a real treat.
  10. I have visions of you having flour here there and everywhere.🙂
  11. Old Croc cheese! I love the stuff.

  14. Not if they've been gnawed on.
  15. Do you recall the brand?
  16. @Okanagancook What chain/brand of spinach is this? I have frozen veg in my freezer right now mainly because these days I don't want say, broccoli that has been handled possibly many times by many different people. I was in our local little grocer yesterday and people were keeping their distance which was especially notable at the check out lines. Fish, which are normally laid out on ice, are now wrapped. They have a lot of prepared food in hot trays - gone. I was a bit disturbed that the pastry section, kept refrigerated under glass, was also completely empty. We only have 1 box of Potugese tarts.😿
  17. They were good wiith that melty aged cheddar inside.
  18. Thank you. As you can see, I made some. I made the recipe as written with the cheese etc. and baked them at 400 as you suggested. We really liked them. Edited to add: lost track of time a bit so they were a bit too (ahem) brown.
  19. Shoot. The cake book is not on sale in Canada.
  20. @curls Those Yorkies look amazing. You said you had a 1 egg recipe? Did it make just the two or do you have batter left?
  21. I cook my rice in the microwave but I just use a casserole dish. Mind you, it takes 25 minutes but I'm never in that much of a hurry.
  22. This is something I normally try to do, that is, support the smaller stores. I am not a fan of the big chain stores, Costco excepted. I find that staff, often the owner, will get to know you and, e.g. recommend items you might like or place special orders for you, including items they don't normally stock. It 's worth the extra $ they may charge, but I have also received cheaper prices on bigger ticket items than the big stores charge. I think especially in times like this, we should support smaller businesses, if we can.
  23. We had them in a couple of places as well. I seem to remember bread being delivered and left in those same milk boxes. Or maybe I'm imagining things?
