They actually TASTE like strawberries. Snacks for when mom got here after an 11 hour drive Ramen noodle chicken salad--we love this stuff Pizza night Fried chicken wings and gizzards last night
  2. Ready for my boring yearly garden pictures? I just like to keep a little record here of what I've planted. I hope this years gardenage is waaaaaay better than last year. I've planted delicata squash twice now and it won't germinate...bad seeds?

    Chef's shortcuts

I am going to be kicked off of EG for this: I had to google to find out what a cartouche even was. And then I found out it had something to do with Egyptian hieroglyphics and had to continue googling.

    Dinner 2017 (Part 4)

Like Anna, I needed a toastie last night. So I had one with green beans and roasted chicken.
  6. I have some blood sausage buried in my freezer somewhere. I need to find it. Looks good!
  7. Thanks you two! I just could not make the dough smooth after shaping them...any "wrinkles" did not leave...they just stayed no matter how much I tried to "smooth" them out. Maybe I should have kneaded it longer or a tad less flour. A bagel expert, I am not lol. edited to add--I've only seen bagels that you can buy at a generic grocery store and they always have perfectly smooth tops. Maybe real NYC bagels are more wrinkly?
  8. Made bread and some water bagels in the CSO yesterday. Yes, my bagels do not look perfect lol but they are really good! Using the bread setting and reducing the bake time by 5 mins was perfect.
  9. I always LOVE looking at your desserts...and your food...and your daughter's gooey bars...YUM. I've long wanted to try the sugar babies in cookies--ever since I saw yours a long time ago..I just always forget to look for any when I'm at the store.

    Dinner 2017 (Part 4)

Ronnie had a dinner meeting...he texted me a picture of the best looking rare tuna over some sort of rice. I had a few bites of fat free cottage cheese out of the container. And wine.

Good thing you didn't have to share with me....I'd have hoarded all of the roasted soy beans.
  13. OH MY GOSH look at that chandelier. I could stare at that for hours. I can't remember...is alcohol forbidden in all places or do some hotels serve it?

    Dinner 2017 (Part 4)

Ronnie went fishing at the lake yesterday and brought home some nice white bass
  15. Oh wow. I've always wanted to visit the UAE. I will never get to, so this is awesome. Look at that water and that view! Amazing. Are those pine nuts on a salad above the sadly overcooked beef? And yeah, the rest of the airplane meals look really good.

Keeping in the theme, I made a little venison taco pizza--I don't think I've ever had that and I liked it a lot. Then we had venison tacos with all the trimmings
  18. Yikes! No wonder it's on sale. Maybe I'll just look at the pictures.
  19. I don't know what came over me, I don't even like cookbooks on Kindle lol. The picture on the front cover looked so dang good that I just pushed the buy button.
  20. Huckleberry:Stories, Secrets and Recipes from our Kitchen by Zoe Nathan--2.99 on Kindle The Fermented Man  by Derek Dillinger--1.99 on Kindle I bought 'em both.

    CSO chicken
  22. I concur. We brine most all of our chicken. But ours is probably a lot saltier...we like a lot of salt ( I know, I know ).
  23. Ditto. I re-use lids if they have NOT been used for canning. Canning lids (not the rings) can only be used once.

Yes, your version is MUCH better. Perhaps you should be the head chef at that restaurant.
