😁 Speaking of this, I just successfully changed the oil in the VacMaster. It was my first time and I was kind of nervous but it was so easy! Also speaking of this, I'm thinking about compressing some watermelon and putting some rum in the bag. Our hunter is a rum drinker. Plain rum? I have coconut rum too.....anyone done this? This guy just got brought up from the watermelon patch and is just begging to be compressed.

I keep meaning to do this too.

Ooooh this looks interesting. I had the same thought re: cutting them up. They are adorable. I think I'd feel bad if I did........

Happy Tuesday everyone! It's fall! And it's hunting season! It's dove and turkey season right now. Because of the cool weather that has moved in, it seems like most of the doves have moved out, but that doesn't stop them from going lol. Our hunter comes in tomorrow morning. As usual, I have no idea what this week will bring, but they have strict instructions to take pictures. You guys keep me inspired and sane during these weeks, so I hope you're not super sick of hearing and seeing me . We picked the pumpkins a few days ago. There are more on the vines that aren't quite orange yet. One is HUGE. Probably 60 lbs. I love the bumpy guy on top....I have no idea why he's bumpy. He's the only one like that. Yesterday we went to the big city and hit Dillon's and the Asian market. Then I spent the afternoon cleaning and rearranging the fridge. Nothing super exciting from Dillon's ...just the usual grocery store stuff....except, inspired by @Anna N, this landed in the cart Ronnie was horrified. The Asian market yielded a few more exciting things Excited to have some good pork belly and I love those baby eggplants (ideas please for those--something Asian that is a side dish?) A cold front is coming in this afternoon bringing strong north winds and highs in the upper 60's so I'm looking forward to that. I have some major cleaning to do today interspersed with baking and hopefully finding a turkey breast in the freezer to SV and smoke. p.s. forgive the dirt yard in the background of the pumpkins--Ronnie has planted grass seed and it hasn't sprouted yet.

I was able to find a few ingredients at the Asian market this morning. I looked and looked for green cardamom pods but couldn't find any--I could have overlooked it.

Ok, so I might take a trip to the big city tomorrow (I'm thinking the Asian market might be the place to go) what are the main/essential spices that I need to stock up on?

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/04/obituaries/kenny-shopsin-dead.html I can't remember how I stumbled upon him....but his style and brash nature quickly drew me to him (albeit, I'm not sure if I would like him if he kicked me out of his restaurant lol). His cookbook is an interesting read and his documentary is good as well (if you like quirky, that is).

I am excited about this cook off. Thank you to everyone for their cookbook recommendations. I've ordered this one from Amazon--it's not the same edition though. I should be getting it Monday.

Venison tacos @kayb The cold front hit here a few hours ago bringing rain and much cooler temps. Only going to be a high of 70 (yesterday was like 95) I've sent it on over to you
