  1. Got the watermelon infused using the info from @Okanagancook and also using @rotuts suggestion of using some brown sugar. I did a bag of plain, too. I just love the color of the melon. SV'd turkey breasts are off of the smoker, too.
  2. Sigh. Oh well. Lunch will be easy some other day.
  3. Sooooo......I guess we got our wires crossed. They stopped and ate lunch before they came home from the airport. Anyone want some chili?
  4. I'll pay you later
  5. Good afternoon! Anyone ready for a nap? Or wine? Or both? I realized I had yet to do my fall drawing on the chalkboard so I quickly scribbled out a pumpkin. I don't think it would even make it as tacky motel room art. 😂 I've got venison chili for lunch in one Instant Pot keeping warm and I've got pork cubed up in the other for enchiladas tonight. It's about 60 degrees and a beautiful day
  6. I wish I could do the laugh and thanks button at the same time. I appreciate all of you so much. Ok, I'm off to bed. I wanted pizza for dinner...but...after today, I didn't have the energy to make dough. Which is absolutely ridiculous because this salad and soup took way more effort. BUT it used up some leftover tuna and steak. Fresh tomato soup Salad with leftover steak and some tuna made into tuna salad edited to add.....I made fresh Ranch dressing from seasoning from Penzey's, buttermilk and homemade mayo. No dipping of pizza was involved....... Good night ya'll and I'll see you tomorrow
  7. Glad to help It's hard to remember to do stuff like that!
  8. I was a bit surprised, too, but it was definitely cloudy/dirty. I've been keeping track of how many times I've used it (give or take a few) and I'm at about 100. The instructions said to change it after 200 so I dunno. But it's all nice and clean and ready to roll now I'd be happy to come do yours
  9. Thanks! Yeah, it was time to change it. I'm glad I looked yesterday.
  10. Think it's ok to be in the fridge longer than 30 mins....like overnight?
  11. 😁 Speaking of this, I just successfully changed the oil in the VacMaster. It was my first time and I was kind of nervous but it was so easy! Also speaking of this, I'm thinking about compressing some watermelon and putting some rum in the bag. Our hunter is a rum drinker. Plain rum? I have coconut rum too.....anyone done this? This guy just got brought up from the watermelon patch and is just begging to be compressed.
  12. I keep meaning to do this too.
  13. Pickage today done by Ronnie: I just got done cleaning--it's as good as it's gonna get.
  14. Ooooh this looks interesting. I had the same thought re: cutting them up. They are adorable. I think I'd feel bad if I did........
  15. I'm starving. I want this.
  16. The elusive Spam, caught in it's natural habitat.
  17. Oh wow. Beautiful! I love the bread picture.
  18. I blamed you. Right in the middle of the aisle.
  19. Happy Tuesday everyone! It's fall! And it's hunting season! It's dove and turkey season right now. Because of the cool weather that has moved in, it seems like most of the doves have moved out, but that doesn't stop them from going lol. Our hunter comes in tomorrow morning. As usual, I have no idea what this week will bring, but they have strict instructions to take pictures. You guys keep me inspired and sane during these weeks, so I hope you're not super sick of hearing and seeing me . We picked the pumpkins a few days ago. There are more on the vines that aren't quite orange yet. One is HUGE. Probably 60 lbs. I love the bumpy guy on top....I have no idea why he's bumpy. He's the only one like that. Yesterday we went to the big city and hit Dillon's and the Asian market. Then I spent the afternoon cleaning and rearranging the fridge. Nothing super exciting from Dillon's ...just the usual grocery store stuff....except, inspired by @Anna N, this landed in the cart Ronnie was horrified. The Asian market yielded a few more exciting things Excited to have some good pork belly and I love those baby eggplants (ideas please for those--something Asian that is a side dish?) A cold front is coming in this afternoon bringing strong north winds and highs in the upper 60's so I'm looking forward to that. I have some major cleaning to do today interspersed with baking and hopefully finding a turkey breast in the freezer to SV and smoke. p.s. forgive the dirt yard in the background of the pumpkins--Ronnie has planted grass seed and it hasn't sprouted yet.
  20. It's here I have so much to do and all I want to do is sit down and read this

    Dinner 2018

Busy day yesterday so Ronnie grilled me a steak
  22. I was able to find a few ingredients at the Asian market this morning. I looked and looked for green cardamom pods but couldn't find any--I could have overlooked it.
  23. Ok, so I might take a trip to the big city tomorrow (I'm thinking the Asian market might be the place to go) what are the main/essential spices that I need to stock up on?

  25. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/04/obituaries/kenny-shopsin-dead.html I can't remember how I stumbled upon him....but his style and brash nature quickly drew me to him (albeit, I'm not sure if I would like him if he kicked me out of his restaurant lol). His cookbook is an interesting read and his documentary is good as well (if you like quirky, that is).
