Thank you! It belonged to my grammy I love it, too. I know how you feel. The tiny upside is that you have some wonderful farmer's markets near you at least.

    Dinner 2019

First radishes and onion from the garden with salt to dip in. Sous vide, then fried chicken, taters, gravy, asparagus from the garden and corn from last years garden
  3. First radishes from the garden. Newman approved.
  4. Another frozen avocado update: I'm simply amazed at how well these freeze. I am so grateful to @Smithy for enticing me to freeze the halves and I'm so grateful to myself for being too lazy to finish the recipe 😂 We had taco salads last night and I remembered that I had 3 more halves in the freezer, so I thawed them out and made guacamole. I didn't even add any lime juice--just a few spoons of salsa. Guacamole stayed nice and green!

Went to the big city grocery store the other day and perused the olive bar--this won't be exciting to most of you lol, but I had fun. And the olives were really good! Had these along with a sub sandwich and tater salad done in the IP Last night was venison taco salads
  6. OH ok. I get it now. Thank you ☺️
  7. I've been pondering ever since you posted it. Even knowing the answer, I don't get the candy cane part. Someone 'splain to the slow girl in Kansas please 😁
  8. Like @Smithy, I don't keep the butter dish in the fridge. In the dead of winter and in the dead of summer the butter is pretty hard because I keep the house around 65F at all times. In the spring and fall, with the windows open, it's more butter-conducive. Thus, in the winter and summer, I butter the bread first and then toast in the CSO. In the spring and fall, I butter after toasting. See? It is complicated.
  9. I'm the same way. The seed that I feed the birds has dried corn in it--THAT even makes me think of @liuzhou. It would be gratifying knowing that at any given moment people all over the world are thinking of me. 🤣
  10. Have a beer! Have two!
  11. Yay!!! Road trip!!! What an great unexpected surprise I hope @liuzhou has recovered from seeing corn in that Cobb salad.......
  12. My step-daughter had a billy goat for a couple of years. He was a pill....and he didn't smell too good, but she sure loved him!
  13. Did you enjoy the goat? I've never eaten it, either.
  14. Oh Kay it's STUNNING!!!! You will have such fun putzing around in there. I just LOVE it!

Sure! I used frozen peas that I ran under water in a strainer. I don't care for canned peas......I suppose you could use them, but I'd think they would be too mushy. After peas were thawed, I threw them in the bowl with small cubes of sharp cheddar cheese, mayo, a pinch of sugar, a splash of vinegar, salt and pepper, thinly sliced or chopped white onion (I like red better, but I didn't have any so white onion had to do). And that's it! I was too lazy that night, but adding diced hard boiled eggs and bacon is really good in there too.

Thanks so much! And thank you so much too! That makes me feel a bit better. You are an experienced baker! I have one of those tube pans...maybe I should retire the bundt pan for good. I'm not sure that I've ever had success getting a cake out in one piece!

    Dinner 2019

I NEED one of these egg plates. Do you remember where it's from? Have I asked you this before? I unearthed some tuna steaks during the great freezer clean out...a bit past their prime, but decent enough with a little sauce made from jalapeño, soy, lime, ginger, a pinch of sugar and a bit of oil. Sweet and sour tofu and egg rolls to go with. Ronnie found a 4 lb prime rib for a decent price, so that was Easter dinner last night. Done in the CSO at 200F until it hit 125F in the center (about 2 hours). Then rested for about 30 mins and after that put in on broil at 500F for 10 minutes. See? I need an egg plate. Pickled stuff Pea salad Wish I'd had some asparagus from the garden, but not enough yet. So, lettuce salad had to suffice. Annnnnnnd this is why I'm not a baker. I wanted pound cake to go with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert. First of all, maybe this recipe is for a different kind of pound cake than I'm used to, but it was more like yellow cake. It tasted good, just not like the pound cake I was thinking of. Second of all, even with all of my buttering and flouring of the bundt cake pan, this happened: Oh well, still was a good dessert
  18. I don't know that you're looking for different ice cream recipes, but I thought I'd share this one: Buttered Popcorn Ice Cream My mom introduced me to it and it's a big time favorite of ours. I've never tried it with the Cracker Jacks.
  19. Me too!
  20. No one knows for sure Last but not least (the second one had me stumped for a minute)
  21. Good to know you guys are ok! So very sad and scary.
  22. Watching the horrible news this morning and I immediately thought of this travel blog. I hope all EG friends are safe.
  23. Nope. Just a naked avocado
  24. Yes. Peeled and wrapped in saran wrap. I honestly was going to try @Smithy's deep fried avocados but life got in the way.

    Dinner 2019

After the freezer thaw debacle, I once again thanked the person that invented sous vide for home use and the person that got me started doing it. I was so tired so I threw some beef steaks in the water bath. Saved me from a lot of cooking and I don't think I could have fit them in the downstairs freezer lol. Next night was oysters and fried shrimp and frog legs Last night I couldn't resist picking the 8 spears of asparagus that were up in the garden....not enough as a veggie side so I blanched them and threw them into the marinated mushroom jar for a few hours. Venison meatballs and spaghetti to go with.
