And the shells are quite thick. My ex used to take our eggs to the ladies at the aerospace company and be rewarded with reportedly excellent baked goods. They never made it home to me. They were women from the South and familiar with duck eggs.

My experience is the same as @Margaret Pilgrim. I find the relationship more intimate than with the produce guys (why are they mostly male?) The was one female at a sadly now closed big Pacific-Asian market in the fish department. When she was retiring and let us know she got little gifts like plants and sweets. And at Albertsons a female butcher.

You made my day. Thank you for sharing that sweet sentiment in a troubled time.

yup. I called my Fire Station Wednesday and said I really do not think weed clearance is appropriate yet - the mandate is May as we are in a red fire zone- no significant weeds! They do house to house inspections and leave you a notice. He said- yes lets wait till mid June.

As a duck mom yeas ago I can share that they are thick/dense. May vary by diet. Silly question perhaps, but did you ask your friend?

I find knock-offs at discount stores and Korean markets (gotta contain the kimchi odor...)

@Tropicalsenior Ouch! Why I love lock and lock glass storage . https://www.amazon.com/Lock-Containers/s?k=Lock+and+Lock+Containers Plus none of that smell clingage that plastic can have.

@blue_dolphin Wow - such an appealing combination. Your cherries look plump and firm - my favorite. Not ready to brave farmers market - soon I hope.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

Walnuts in pastry is what I grew up with. I do not dislike them but not my favorite nut. The year my single but shops like for a family of 5 friend overbought various nuts at Costco and brought them over - my baklava was so so good. I think it was pecans and hazelnuts + walnuts. -

Smells we are not used to tweak our heads more than other intense odors. I had jackfruit in a plastic closed container once and got stuck on the freeway. It was hot, smell intense - more cloying really. But it tasted great while I waited for traffic to clear on the notorious 405 in L.A. Do let us know how you enjoyed the durian. -

Don't think they would have them cut. Maybe jackfruit? Nice shop find. -
Perhaps Jennifer and Clarissa of "Two Fat Ladies" gave us a different perspective on the wide range of UK food. What a sparkling pair.

Good to know. I like tisanes. It is almost exclusively Asian grannies picking big bags of them at the local closed landfill - or the occasional horseperson who just reaches out for one as the trees are pretty big - no need to dismount.

Further to loquats thhis popped up. I enjoyed the perspective https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/los-angeles-loquat-fruit-trees

Boiling? Low simmer? Temp matters I think. nd for those unfamiliar - blue top? We can google but the the crazy algorithms will send us ads

From my perspective seasoning has different meanings as does spicy. Salt is a major seasoning so UK maybe had that one nailed. The vast array of other spices including heat -well... Seems people often equate "spicy:" with heat hot. - which confuses.

or a post hole digger. Amazing how little real muscle they require Stomp don and pull. We have mandatory split rail fences here so post holes are a strong memory. Never hurts to throw a fish head in the hole either

Heavenly with goat cheese and well toasted nuts. Beef does not add anything for me. I like a grassy peppery olive oil, and oddly (cuz I am odd) both fresh squeezed orange juice and decent balsamic.

Can you tell me about the grain mix? I am always wary pf mixes due to what I think would be the different cooking times and how it all comes together.
