I love this more than most any other home made cookie it has all my favorite components...sugar ..chocolate and coconut!!!! I hope this is what you are looking for?

I really appreciate and am learning from your dialog here and wanted to thank you so much for posting... I am a nurse and work in urgent/emergent care ..I always regular chemo patients... that come in for pain management, nausea and rehydration during chemotherapy. (we have a close affiliation with our Oncology team so there is no sitting in the lobby with sick people ..they just come in..or call ahead and as soon as we and we get them back to a room) I have time with these folks that I would not give up for a million dollars...most of what I do is in such a hurry "treat em and street em" I actually get to sit and chat during these visits while I am starting IV's or giving meds... (they can call us ahead and we usually will be able to hold a room with a TV and recliner for a family member) ... it seems all we talk about besides their current state of health ..is food! we have long conversations about it and what they eat or plan to eat between treatments! How much they are missing certian foods . I can offer warm blankets, fluids, pain and nausea medications ...for relief ....but I know that the more important times are the between treatments when they are feeling better I agree not everyone struggles with chemo..but a lot of people do! and the ups and downs are expected ....So I am glad I can provide this care where I work ... and again I am so glad you are out here talking about this ..because even non foodies going through chemo really miss eating things they love! I am going to put some limes in the fridg at work ... thank you so much and good luck to you.. Heidi -
I grew up in Providence RI my favorite food memory were the clams clam cakes, stuffies, clam chowder and most of all "Steamers" I do not ever think I have eaten all could of these ever! I go fetal, suck my thumb and twirl my hair over the following as well ... Caribbean style curries Fluffernutters on white bread with Wise brand Cheese Doodles

I absolutely will never again have a microwave over my stove ..I dont get that thinking and am not sure why it was there to begin with ...especially for someone my height this is not a good idea!!! ..my husband moved it for me the second time my Tshirt caught on fire

I know I mentioned this in another place but ..the best, easiest to handle pastry I have found... especially if you want to make alot and freeze them is to make a flour tortillas (I add buttermilk to my recipe) and then use that! also if you want to buy good thicker style flour tortillas and just cut them in half and fold them like a samosa then seal them with cornstarch and water slurry and fry ..they work so perfectly well come out flakey,..very crispy ..the crispiness holds up to sitting for quite a while actually, they a nice golden brown and are so "authentic" a friend of mine's mother serves them in her restaurant made with tortillas ...that is how I learned to use them I was invited into the kitchen and talking to her mom asked about the samosa pastry... and she started laughing showed me her stash of locally produced thick Mexican tortillas! I am not kidding if you want a nice samosa use a flour tortilla if you want to make it your self find any good recipe for four ones and add buttermilk to the recipe! (leave out the lard and sub butter or vegetable shortening)

Will be? http://tinyurl.com/38v583 ← that is hysterical!!! I should google "bullion cube collector societies" I would have to say I am not quite that bad..although I did pick up a new beef cube today and a tomato one as well at El Mercado! I have always tossed cubes into my Puerto Rican style rice I am going to try this tomato one and see how good it is instead of my usual Hispanic chicken cubitos! very exciting!!!!

I forgot to add 3 habenero peppers to the recipe above I just edited it I am sorry!!!

here you go! please tell me how you like it! This is not exact ...taste while you are cooking to get all balance right for you and yours ..I like mine blistering hot so I add more Habaneros that I say here......this recipe is "medium hot" dump into a heavy pot the following 3 bottles of chile sauce (like Heinz or whatever) if not use Ketchup! 1 cup frozen Goya brand tamarind puree or if you can not find it tamarind paste diiluted so you can pour it easily 1 cup frozen Goya brand Passion fruit puree (make sure you use the tamarind it really makes this great! but I think that you could use frozen concentrated passion fruit juice ...actually any type of frozen concentrated juice ..but the passion puree carried through this sauce and really gave it that tart tropical edge!!!) juice of 6 Key limes (or regular limes maybe 3?) 2-3 cup if dark brown sugar 1/4 cup corn syrup 2 shots of dark rum in a food processor with a chopping blade mince up together the following until a puree 2 X 1 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger (a good chunk of it ..I dont peel it just scrub it and trim off anything ugly) 6 cloves garlic big sprig of time 1 large sweet onion cut into four pieces 3 fresh tomatoes 3 habenero peppers 3 tble New Mexican red chile powder 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp coriander 1 tsp allspice (I used whole spices toast and grind them but you can use powdered I bet it will not matter in this) 1 small can of chipotle peppers in adobo while the food processor is going add 1 cup of vegetable oil take that paste out of the processor and put into a pot on the stove ..while stirring everything together bring to a hard boil for five minutes turn to med high and stir every few min for about another 10-15 to make a fairly thick sauce taste to see if you want salt in there ..I put a couple of tsp of Kosher but not sure if it needed it cool I ran mine through a strainer but I dont think you have to there was nothing left in the strainer! I came out with three full pints of sauce when I was done I smoked good the chicken and ribs after brining them for about 20-30 min ..drying them off really well then bringing them to room temp...nothing lots of smoke on about a 300 degree grill (they was a large range chicken quartered and enough St Louis ribs for four people) just be patient check every 15 min add more chips and smoke away for at least 2 hours or so when they seem nicely smoked/cooked through... start dipping them in sauce every 15 min until you have what my pictures looked like ..I thin it was one more hour If you like chuncks in your sauce add a diced sweet bell pepper and a dice onion just before you bring it to a boil

What to bring for friends in crisis?
hummingbirdkiss replied to a topic in Food Traditions & Culture
one dish that everyone loves and is very comforting is good old fashioned home made baked macaroni and cheese I make it with gorgonzola and it is fantastic but cheddar or whatever is wonderful food for rough times you are a good friend -
I am so sorry I have been there a few times for conferences and we had one horrible local meal after another ..we keep trying and we kept failing ..I hope someone does find you a good meal I would be interested to know what we missed there ... the German food was in my opinion pretty overpriced and horrible ...the service was nice everywhere but it is touristy so it should be friendly!

Northwest Vegetable Gardening
hummingbirdkiss replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Cooking & Baking
As a gardener, I would be much happier, if you knocked on my door and asked me for a pinch or a cutting rather than doing it yourself. That is bad garden juju. ← should have made it clear ...I never touch anything in anyones yard it is fair game if it is growing onto the side walk or the street however yes I take a pinch if I touched plants in peoples yards yes that would be intrusive and rude I would never do that ... but the sidewalk and streets where I live have lots of volunteers growning and they do not belong to anyone..usually are hit buy Roundup when the city cleans them ... -
I have just unearthed some frozen tamarind and frozen passion fruit pulps and would love to make a nice sweet/sour/hot and sticky slow cooked BBQ rib plan! my ribs are on the counter thawing I have a garden full of herbs a cabinet full of spices.. garlic habaneros ...ginger... I have about anything I could need otherwise I believe including wood chunks to smoke them if need be they are St Louis ribs... ..except it seems the brain cells to put it all together to make what I really want! anyone have any wonderful ideas for me? thanks so much in advance
