  1. Hello there! I am brand new to Egullet and have just read through all 20 pages of this thread and am beside myself over marshmallows! Years ago when my kids were little I made some simple vanilla marshmallows with a very low grade success ...I was always a cook and never good at baking or confectionaries ..suddenly when my youngest got his own place I could bake! Go figure on that one! Now I come here find this recipe and I am astounded at just how much fun this is and how perfectly these marshmallows came out . I did the Nightscotsman's strawberry and vanilla...brought a HUGE plate of them to work and watched as people tasted them ...the faces were priceless!!! The expressions of surprise that someone actually could and would make marshmallows and that they would be marshmallows were hysterical! I am a nurse in a very busy clinic . Feeding my coworkers wonderful food is such a joy ..feeding them home made marshmallows was insane fun!!! One PA I work with said "who makes these I thought people just picked them off trees" he kept going back and tasting them saying "these are really marshmallows!" Thanks so much for filling my brain with such a lovely diversion!!! you folks have fantastic ideas and the pictures are beautiful!.. the options are obviously endless! I will curry anything so I have to try the curried marshmallows next and I was thinking of topping them with flaked coconut...not sure if I should go with fresh toasted ? what do you think with the curry flavor?
  2. please just tell the truth as someone who has learned a great deal from honest people that do ..especially where food is concerned....I appreciate it and will always buy from people that do give it to me straight vs people that don't .... one of those brownies may be frozen still and if she finds out she will not trust you again ..I know I wouldn't but if you carefully explained to me the reasoning and had me taste a previously frozen one vs a fresh one to see that the quality is still true ...you have a teaching moment and it is win win....

  8. did I miss it or does no one know about green chile cheese fries as the single best munchie food on the planet I think!!! and of course anything curried... for cooking we used to ..back in the day ...put a bud on a cracker and just melt cheese on top "Leary biscuit" it worked

  10. I see it all the time here in the Seattle/ Tacoma area ..but only in the restaurants not at my Korean friends houses..when I asked my girlfriend ..who happens to be Korean "why?" ..she laughed and said "why not it tastes good with grilled meat doesn't it?" and she is right it does so why not? the only bad part to me is I don't usually like how it is prepared ..it tastes like that Miracle Whip stuff instead of mayo and is usually very sweet ..each chef and their on recipe however so I keep trying it and hoping.....because I think it would be good with grilled spicy meats and seafood ...it is just so far I have yet to find the one I actually like the taste of...

OK OK my absolute favorite sardine included lunch to die for!!! two nice thick crusty slices of sourdough bread lots of home made mayo on each side of the bread a big red ripe beefsteak tomato sliced and a thick slice of walla walla onion then a can of drained sardines and lots of fresh cracked pepper and many napkins! my dad and I used to eat this sandwich together when I was little (less the Walla Walla I grew up in Providence RI we did not have them there! we used red onion instead)
