  3. I work weekends!!! I just realized I can not do this!! bummer..I have to back out! I was sooo looking forward to a pie festival at my house!
  4. hmmmm free flowing ...no rules really ...I can make whatever/as many desserts/themed or not..all that I want and post it any of the aforementioned dessert threads??? wow ....ok sounds like something I can do I want to make pie!!!! all kinds various forms with lots and lots of fruits ...I dont think I am capable of making or eating hundreds but I will try for the team and the economy!!!
  5. I empathize and send my compassion ....time will heal this I promise I went a very similar event a few years back and ..honestly.. ...grief is a process... it took a while to get back to "normal" but it happened ..and it will for you .. hugs to you and I am sorry for your loss really I do understand ...
  6. Deja vu! You and my mother must be long lost twins or something.... ← OHHH I missed that I feel so validated now!!! thanks!!! that was horrible I put a cup salt in a cake and knew when I was doing it something did not "feel" right oh well lesson learned!
  7. this is my absolute favorite sandwich 1. two pieces of realy sour sourdough with a heavy crust 2. thick layer of home made mayo on the bottom only because the top side provides traction so the tomato does not fly out with the first bite! 3. many slices of red ripe beefsteak tomato 4. thick slice of Walla Walla onion 5. a few sardines with some of the oil for garnish 6. salt 7. tons of fresh cracked pepper 8. take bites and eyes roll back in head with joy 9. find someone to kiss who has not had the sandwich with you
  8. NY had a ton of great Mexican food all over I dont think you will have a problem finding great Mexican food anywhere in NY state to be honest ...
  9. I pass out the fleeces ..put a tarp over the fire pit and dine outside anyway! Even in the winter we eat outside if we can ... I think the trick to living here is to embrace the elements!!! my menu does get "warmer" if it is gloomy but we have always camped and hiked in the winter so I can find all kinds of wonderful foods when the grayness comes on I have had my friends whine when we go out in the rain to eat but when they realize it is only water and they will not die ...and after a few beverages around a lovely fire ... hell rain beats bugs any day!!! we eat all the same things I just may make a more hardy meal when it is cooler and gloomy ...same foods though whatever is in season we eat... for instance I will bake a pie vs a serving fruits with ice cream as dessert or for dinner curries or stews instead of salads and cold plates ... anything I bbq is the same rain or shine ...in fact I think bbq is cheerful in the rain! you gotta work with whatcha got I figure!
  10. a lot of Indian food is gluten free papadums are great for a bread like side dish and they are made from lentils for the most part .. there are lots of desserts made from nut flour/ corn flour ... and tons of books depends I guess what you want to serve I would ask the clients as well
  11. did it work?

    Key Limes

one of my favorite all purpose marinade for chicken, fish or pork ... you can broil... roast...pan fry... bake whatever you dont need a grill 1 part key lime juice 2 parts olive oil lots of fresh minced garlic 1 tbl sugar dried oregano salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste (If you want heat mince up a habanero or two and add that)
  14. I will never again put a vanilla bean in salt and then put it in a jar that looks like the sugar jar
  15. those are just stunning! I am not surprised your a pleased with them they are a work of art! I bet they taste wonderful! I loved the way passionfruit marshmallows made the kitchen smell they are just so fragrant ... hmmmm I think I am getting the urge to make some ..I have blueberries and cardamom and someone said those two go good together ..perhaps .... oh oh here I go again ....
  16. this looks fantastic I am so enjoying watching your progress! ...I have a huge house that had to be remodeled room by room by room and we are doing all the work we can ourselves... I am almost to the point where I can begin the kitchen and these kitchen remodel threads are wonderful inspiration..thanks so much for sharing!!! yes I agree get the hammer out it feels so good/powerful/in control to deconstruct!!! gets lots of frustrations out! the cabinet looks so great ..I bet you are excited what a fantastic project! I wish I could put floor to ceiling windows in like that ..I am so jealous of those!! they are stunning .... I am settling for a French door and a huge window ...we can not cut out a brick wall by ourselves unfortunatly or I would try
  17. Did you try an Asian market yet? I just went to a huge Korean market here ..... and while I was there I walked past the strainers and voila' similar to the ones mentioned above and all about 1/4 the price ..you should check it out! I am not sure of the count but these are some seriously fine mesh strainers and there are so many types! even the shakers with the mesh on top I bought a really nice super fine one ...just because I could not resist! I can not get over the prices on line at these places ..compared to the local store here.. and when I held these strainers they appear to be quite good quality as well ..it is worth a shot I think ..but then that is just me thinking

    Home Canning

I just made 27 pints of BBQ sauce .. I dont have any pictures and almost half went out the door already!!! I think my kids have radar and pulled off I-5 when the jar lids made that "ping" so before the onions are done for the year .(I use a dozen giant Walla Walla's in the "recipe"..I have to make more!!! it is a long labor of love to do this ... but worth it I think!!! it is a sweet hot tangy smokey sauce ..that is a great cooking glaze or I use like ketchup!
  19. I bet it works with all that great New Mexican energy how can it fail????
  20. thank you so much for posting this! I had no idea ..I have a horrible time with my wall ovens and am in the midst of designing a second kitchen ...I am really short and when I open my ovens and reach in I always feel like I am going to fall into them!!! this would resolve it ..and yes it is a very cool oven ... I am afraid to ask about cost of these things!!!!
  21. I say take a scoop out try to make some bread or pancakes with it and see what happens
  22. today I plan to sit in the safe "shade" of a tiny taqueria and enjoy a bowl of posole for lunch ...

omg me too ..me too ...come please harvest to your hearts content!!!! I will get my omega's elsewhere..I would rather buy a pill ... it is horrible here...there are friends and bullies ..purslane is a bully and I don't like it!!! be careful if you choose to put it in your yard!!!! ok even if you buy it and accidenly drop a piece on a sidewalk crack that shit will grow!!!
