Don't think twice about buying the canned salted anchoives! They are so much better then the ones packed in oil (except the white ones that come marinated, a whole different story). The cleaning process is very simple. Just run the anchovie under some warm water to remove the salt, the take a paring knife and open the body a little at the the stomach. You can then just use you fingers to open the fish like a book and pull out the bones and rinse. The anchoivies will last up to a year or more in your refrig. under the salt. One of my favorite ways to eat anchovies is to butter (unslted) a bagette place the anchovies on top with some sweet onion . In NJ you can purchase these anchovies at Jerry's in Englewood for $9.99 for a one lb can. It seems like alot, but they go faster then you think. I think that Jerry's has a website. I've also seen them at teitel bros in the belmont section of the Bronx

Gen in Montvale (exit 172 GSP, Chestnut Ridge Road) is BYO and exceptional.

I love Brunos, esp the Sicilian. The crust has a slight sweetness to it and is very crispy on the bottom (from cornmeal?). The mussels are quite good also. You might want to try La pizzeria on the eastbound side of 46 just past Hazel st.

Can you be a little more specific? Type of cuisine, price range, etc.

I had a party catered by Finks last Sat. Ten racks of ribs and a tray of wings, everything was literally inhaled. I'm pretty famous for my ribs around town, and could have taken credit, but I've got to give it to Dave, Chip and his crew they make some great food. I hope everybody checks them out, their choices are varied, they're very accomidating and the prices are very reasonable. Good luck in the future.

I grew up with Hebrew National natural casing hot dogs and knocks (sadly no longer made). Right now I like the the Black Bear (shoprite house brand) natural casing all beef dogs. They are often on sale for $2.99/ lb and are always available. Someone has started selling a fresh brat under the Nathans name recently, and it comes in two varities, beer and original. I found them similar to Johnsonville and couldn't really tell the difference between the two varities. Having said all this I wish that someone would start selling Usingers sausages in No. Jersey.

Having been to Libbys this week, I think I can say that I agree with John about the the dogs. The Hot Grill in Clifton is definately superior. One interesting thing about Libbys is that it is just down the block from the Great Falls in the historic section of Paterson. A famous scene from the the Sapranos was shot there.

We try to eat dinner together as much as possible, but it seems as the kids get older and older and we work harder and harder its not possibloe. Sunday is the one night when we always eat together. I love to cook and it really relaxes me. My son (who is 12) is starting to take an interest and I've been able to allow him to come into the kitchen and share the pleasure with me and it gives me alot of satisfaction.

My favorite salad bar is in Clifton on Crooks Ave. Its called Baskingers. Everything is fresh every day and the selections always change. Cold $3.99/lb, hot $4.49/lb. They also have a good bakery, hero sandwiches, italian hot dogs, and tables to sit outside on a nice day.

Pizza Town in Lodi (westbound side of rt46 right past the Garden State Pwy) has probably the best single slices that I know of. They don't make too many pies in advance. There are no extras on the slices and the sauce is homemade. The place looks like it was an old Wessons. They seem to serve enough slices to keep the pies fresh.

No can do, they're already related.

I haven't been following this thread. Is there room for one more? Six is perfect for me. I work a few miles away in Clifton. I have both male and female Turleys, but Iprefer something with less alcohol like maybe Gaja or Dunn.

I"ve got to go with Gan on Chestnut Ridge Road in Wodcliffe Lake. The Sushi Chef (Mr Lee) is a Nobu Alumnus and really knows his stuff. Sit at the bar and let him do his thing.

I went to t this event last night held at the Manor in West Orange. Its really a winner for value ($80) and tasting of young wines. The selection covers the entire world including some first growths, beers and spirits. The food was very good and the people manning the the tables were knowlegable about the wines. If you live in the NJ area this is an event worth seeking out. Btw while we were cruising the tables who pops up but Rosie. Nice to see her.

This is old news, but my favorite hot dog is Black Bear (Shoprite brand) all beef 8 or 4 to the lb. They're the most reasonable ($2.99/lb on sale) and they are made by Deitz and Watson. I don't know if this is gourmet or not, but its my favorite beef dog.
