  1. I was therec last Fri. Everything seemed the same to me. The only drag about Hot Grill is that since they finished Rt 21 its a real pain in the ass to get there.
  2. D'artagnan also ships. All these places, in my experience (vast as it is) rarely consistantly stock this item because the demand is so small. Besides your own homemade is vastly superior IMO, so there
  3. Or gp girectly to D'artagnan's store and stock up. They freeze well.
  4. Hear hear! Of course you should make your own if you use them so often. Buying the legs would cost you half of what you pay for the confit. Every good chef's cook book will give you the technique. Buy the whole birds and have the butcher break them down for you (save the skin for rendering and the bones for stock). The breasts freeze well also. On a rainy Sunday you can make enough confit along with duck demi glass, rendered duck fat, and cracklings to last a year. It really doesn't take much effort, you just need a good stove that has burners that goes very low.
  5. A little OT, but what about making your own?Its a very simple technique. The legs keep for 6-8 months sobmerged in duck fat in the freezer. Pm me if you're interested in making some.
  6. did you not like the roll? i thought it was pretty decent for that burger. Not me T ( although I'm not fond of burgers on kaiser rolls either), this was the the Queen of the castle's quote.
  7. Went for dinner last night with the Queen (bacon cheeseburger, why do they put it on a kaiser roll?) and the young Prince (bacon cheeseburger, fries well done, loves it on a kaiser roll). They both said the burgers were much better than the usual diner "hockey pucks". I had a special of pork goulash that was more like shredded pork over egg noodles, a bit on the bland side for my taste.. The weird thing that I noticed was that the menus looked like they were from the original Haglers, they were in pretty bad shape for only being in use for a couple of months. We went at 7PM and there was only two other tables occupied.
  8. I mentioned Jerry's to the owners and they they complimented their provisions (which I think are vastly supperior) but thought that their cooked foods were much better (i've got to reserve judgement, I only got to taste a little bit ). The one thing I did taste head to head is the Vodka sauce and I've got to give it to Euro Gourmet.
  9. That explains the strange look and consistancy. I wish that it wasn't salted, even though i like the flavor. I did mention my "connection" with you guys.
  10. I was in the area on Fri., so I stopped in for a sandwich. After being offered and tasting everything inthe store I wound up getting a great meatball sub, some spicey meat and cheese salad, grilled vegetables, a super macaroni salad, vodka sauce, tahini, pesto bread, homemade butter, and a great rice ball . I dropped this stuff off at home and my kids and their freinds devoured it all that night .One note on this place; DO NOT GO HUNGARY and LEAVE YOUR WALLET HOME! Refuse all all samples unless you want to take a second mortgage on your home. Everything I tried was good and there is no prices on any prepared food ( always dangerous). This place reminded me of Dante's in River Edge.
  11. Dinner tonight I really love Habernaro stuffed olives.
  12. Soba, A wine I love with Chinese food is Trimbach Alsace One. Its a blend of 5 different grapes, very fruity with good acid. Its $ 8.99 and readily available. Anouther good choice is any 2001 German Kabinett.
  13. I know I'm late but I'd like to attend if there is room Edit: just me by myself .
  14. Not in NYC, but very good Buffalo style wings (with abpot 50 different sauces) is Planet Wings on RT 59 in Spring Valley NY. They have other locations in Rockland and Orange Cos.
  15. The 1st is no good for me. the Queen and Princess are going to Zootopia
  16. I'm in for me, mrs 00 and anouther eG couple

I'm going to have to go with you guys because what I got was kind of tame. Maybe they saw my kids and figured they couldn't take it (if only they knew the truth).

We took some freinds from Bklyn last night. As usual the food was great, but the place was empty again (Sun 7PM). 4 adults, 2 teenagers $120 tax and tip included. Where are you going to find food of this quality for this price? Support China 46.
