  1. This book looks amazing, have added to my wish list!
  2. I met my husband when I was 17 and I did not boil water, let alone cook, haha. He took me to the fanciest steakhouse he could find for our first real date, I did not find my passion for cooking until I was 25, the first year we were married, so it was quite a happy surprise for my husband who loves food. And I really do not remember my first meal cooked...two years ago, i shoudl have a better memory but too many meals in between I guess He actually loved to experiment more when we were younger, he made sushi as his first very big meal (but we invited friends for that)

    Quinoa

I love quinoa, for cooking suggestions, i treat it like a rice or couscous. I love it with some minced garlic, mushrooms, green onions and parmesean, I am always looking for new ways to use it. My next experiment is stuffing tomatos with it and i want to try a paella using quinoa instead of rice, dont know how it will turn out, but quinoa is definitely my new fun to experiment food lately.
  4. My parents just picked me up a box at an estate sale (well boxes, but I chose a box worth), I dont even know all the names yet, but add another 11 So happy!

    Making Breadcrumbs

This is exactly what I do, and I get crisp great breadcrumbs.
  6. Count me in as a cilantro hater, blech! I hate veal, always have, my parents are horrified by this and have tried to disguise it as something else in dishes and I still always know no matter how good of a job they did. Blue cheese (every other cheese I love though) There are foods I may dislike but can eat anyway, but those are probably my three top hated, do not eat. Oh and I never have had SPAM, but it does not sound good from what is described here.

    Salmon

I could not figure out how to edit my post but I found a pic of my salmon so here it is:

    Salmon

I do an easy marinade- soy sauce, french dijon mustard, chopped green scallions, garlic clove sliced thin (goodfellas style ) I either broil or grill it and I add sesame seeds at the top. My husband loves it, but I am loving this thread, cuz salmon is one of my quick fixes and we like this verison so much, but I am bored of it as I make it too much since it takes no time at all.
  9. Well I did pick up more tonight, despite my plan to buy no more food due to the move, and we had it with lemon and ground pepper......yummmm
  10. I went the hollandiase route, 1.50 a pound and in process of moving so only bought one batch. But been craving them ever since and may just have to get more before I move. This time I will prob just do my usual- butter and lemon, yummm.

    Lobster dishes

I typically love lobster with just butter and some lemon but in the mood for something different and interesting. Have a ton of lobster tails to cook, any quick ideas for me to whip up? My husband does not like risotto (sigh, I know) so that is out.
  12. Originally from New York and now living in Arizona, I have seen a broad difference in Mexican food. AZ has a very large mexican population and I think the mexcian food here outshines places I have gone in other states (even Mexico itself) So, maybe they just are not getting the good stuff

    Frozen Pizza

OMG, I had forgetten about Elio's, brings back memories, except I grew up with it in the 80s as a kid and loved it, so I do not know if the recipe had changed by then. Also to add, I love the goat cheese pizza at Trader Joe's, thin crust and delicious.
  15. I have seen Subway quite a bit overseas.

    Dinner! 2007

Salmon with a simple marinade of dijon, soy sauce and garlic and my fave caprese salad. I stacked them for fun, looks cute- flavor not as thorough as my usual though. Also not pictured here quinoa with sauteed maushrooms, garlic, green onion and parmesan- delicious.
  21. As most people noted- salad dressing, but even at restaurants I just ask for olive oil, I have never liked the richness of most salad dressings (I actually like the taste of veggies ) I use canned tomatoes to make any tomato/spaghetti sauce- which is anything I feel like- mushrooms, vodka sauce, etc etc Now I do not make mint jelly but no longer buy it- Love mint pesto instead. I would like to start making my own chicken stock.

    Dinner! 2007

My husband loved the food in germany, so i made this for him. The bratwurst and saurkraut got colored pretty dark with beer I used ( a delicious german beer, btw) but it was so good even if it does not look that appetizing! Just an herbed salad with asiago cheese, capers and mushrooms.

    Whiny Diners

While not having a fork is a neccesary thing to tell a server, I disagree with nearly the rest of the post. Yes, you are paying for a service, but paying for something does not in turn make the world solely revolve around you. Also, if I notice a server is exceptionally busy, it is just human nature to be a lil lax on them. At least for me, cuz I do like to treat people with respect. If one diner makes incessant demands that screws up all the other diners, etc, you just cannot make everyone happy, and losing one person's business over the people waiting behind you is an easy math solution.
