    Low ingredient meals

Bad head cold, so forgive me if this does not make much sense... My mother's version of Chicken breast Florentine- chicken breasts (olive oil, salt and peppered) on a bed of spinach, topped with mozeralla and mushrooms (I dont bread or flour my chicken, Im picky that way)
  2. I liked Mark and was sad to see him go, I think he did come up with interesting dishes. I was always curious regarding his ingredients etc. And I thought the fit over curry was dumb, we are so ethnocentric sometimes, it is a common family meal many places. Also, huge mistake to try the Top Chef drinking game for the first time last night, between Uncle Ben's and Glad, I had to take many, many drinks! Also, $10 at Whole foods just would not happen.
  3. Do you know who else? I saw Steven from Season one is opening one and then winner, Harold. I havent really heard anything from Season 2 (which imo really sucked anyhow)
  4. http://tc2blogger.blogspot.com/2007/12/not...ave-martin.html Dave Martin, Season One Top Chef Contestant, opened a new restaurant in New York, Crave on 42nd. Main Website- http://www.craveon42nd.com/ Looks like you can get Mac N Cheese with truffles as an appetizer that earned raves on Top Chef.
  5. I am making this tonight too! Jan Bon Appetit? For the main course we are having lobster and a salad. Just my husband and I, cozy and watching a movie.

    Dinner! 2007

Do you have a recipe, we eat low carb most of the time and Id love to be able to eat pot pies...
  8. Time Magazine online has a photo essay of some of the chefs and their last meals from Melanie Dune's new book: http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29...1673230,00.html I think my last meal would include a lot of seafood. I like Ramsay's simplicity.
  9. Yumm, they all look delicious, good luck with your dinner. Another thing I would consider is how the flavors work with your other dishes. My husband loves my "test" days

    Prep bowls

I love my silicone pinch bowls and measuring cups http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Micro-Si...l/dp/B0000E2GY4 http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Internat...7387003-6770302 I should get silicone prep bowls, since I love how they bend and move But I have two sets of Mario batali type prep bowls (not specifically those, Marshall's has great prices on these type prep bowls) And then for anything larger, I use melanime bowls. I love all of them, especially when I have so many dishes going at once, it is nice to have everything ready to go, I definitely fit in the obsession mold for prep bowls.
  11. Wow! I am trying this tonight, I just bought pomegranates, thank you!
  12. It was Brian, and I agree, when he said that, I was like wow, that would be awesome to be around that. My husband tries, but frankly he rather be eating whatever I may be talking about, haha (which is still a great quality)

    Cocktail Sauce?

Well I took what I had - ketchup, Worcestershire, lots of lemon, cayenne pepper, franks red hot sauce (but had to use very little, affected the taste) It did not have the bite of your typical cocktail sauce, but it was very good and everyone enjoyed it (they did not notice the difference), I did, but liked it. I still will pick up some horseradish next shopping trip. It is one of those things I hardly ever run out of, so I dont know it is missing until I really need it. edited to add- Thank you for all your suggestions!!

    Cocktail Sauce?

No I dont have Wasabi, sigh! I always have horseradish, arrrr!
  16. Out of horseradish, any alternates?
  17. IA, third season was back to what I enjoyed about season one- cooking- (although season one is still my fav), I thought this finale lacked "oomph" and the live finale ending was lame... I am glad Hung won, I thought he deserved to win, I dont think he was the bad guy that the show originally tried to edit him to be.
  18. This question may be incredibly stupid, but how important is the deep-fat thermometer to have for this recipe: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/240226 Is there a way to estimate? Or if not, will I suffer greatly if the temp is not exact? I am finally trying to add some desserts to my cooking, which is a bit difficult for me, since I do not eat sweets much myself. But I need to add desserts to my repertoire and I am one to try anything! But this dessert just sounds delicious for my dinner tomorrow night and perfect for fall.
  19. I really enjoyed the episode as well, I enjoy these episodes moreso than the make a meal out of cheese doodles in 10 minutes competitions. I did not have a problem with Sara going home, I think she kinda hid in mediocrity throughout the beginning of the show as we watched better chefs leave.
  20. I am so disappointed to see Tre go. I am not enjoying the fact that so many chefs go under the radar and do nothing and stay on. Tre is definitely a better chef then some people still standing, and it is disappointing to see him and lia gone. I have a new respect for Sara as well, I thought she handled her role well. Loved seeing Hung chop those chickens and his remark- I feel bad for the other team while Casey was chopping onions cracked me up. It was agonizing to watch. Lost respect for CJ- completely threw Tre under the bus, it was uncalled for. I dont know who to root for anymore, I liked Brian as well, but did not see him do much this week.
  21. Never have seen this fruit before, so picked up a couple! Any ideas? Thank you!

    Fig ideas?

This is my favorite way to have them - and I am allergic to honey! But I take the irritation and eat them every season like this anyways (sigh only one like 2 times a week though) Anyhow, I also like stuffing chicken breasts with figs, goat cheese and thyme.
  23. LOL, I agree. At least they had aprons, I was worried they were not going to get any. The producers must be men- They should walk around in high heels for hours.
  24. Tre's grits and shrimp looked so good, I wish I could have tasted it. What did Sara do for her team? (not the one eliminated, the other Sara) I feel like she is sliding below the radar on nearly every show and has not done any real work, which is a shame since she is still there instead of Lia or others I would rather not see eliminated.
