  1. Source: http://www.livestrong.com/article/539346-dutch-processed-cocoa-powder-vs-unsweetened-cocoa-powder/ YMMV since it is the Hershey Center
  2. I got the dried kimchi today... Ummm, $2.99 for 1/3rd a cup of mostly "powdered" kimchi...It does taste good though
  3. See I always thought (or was wrongly told) that the darker the cocoa the better, that the lighter cocoas were "Dutched".. I bought the Valrhona thinking I was getting the best most nutritious product. But now that I read this thread and I find out that its the opposite, I know now that that gorgeous dark silky Valrhona has very few antioxidant qualities..because of the Dutching. ::sigh:: Oh Well!
  4. Pati's Mexican table
  5. On one of the TV shows (maybe Eat St) there was a vegan food truck called Seabirds that makes vegan pulled "pork" tacos and taquitos out of crushed Immature Unripe Jackfruit, in the can.. http://seabirdstruck.com/so-what-is-jackfruit/ Now there are tons of other pulled jackfruit recipes on the net.. I just made my own version and OMG It tasted like meat! Have you guys made any of these savory jackfruit recipes on the net?

    Salt Cod Diary

So glad you made the Ackee and Saltfish I need to make it again after I finish South Beach, with a better quality piece of salt cod
  7. What someone or some company needs to do, is create a line of "salty" snacks made with salt substitute for people who cant eat salt... Im trying to use Salt Substitute not in recipes but on foods if I want extra saltiness
  8. Shall we all post pics of toast made in our TOs? Toast made in a Black and Decker Spacemaker toaster oven TROS1500 Top side Left Bottom side Right
  9. TY for posting this! I have an additional question... Are these considered "Oden"?
  10. Valrhona is silky on the fingertips its so rich... Remember, Dutch Process removes the nutrition
  11. I got a GE Spacemaker under cabinet Toaster Oven, my mom didnt believe in Toaster Ovens. Now that I have one I LOVE IT
  12. Jason? Im not as much looking for meats and fish from Japan as I am for specific cuts of pork cut in Japanese style Like I wanna make this But no one sells that cut of pork in the US or HMart Honestly, I wish I had been told as a teen that I could move to Japan... Im more worried about the effects of SS Sandy on Mitsuwa. It was flooded by Sandy and usually after disasters the little packages of do dads on the shelves that are too hardcore for even the local population get tossed out and the low selling items get re-evaluated and discontinued, taking the "heart" out of a place. Like when our local King of Prussia, Pa Bed Bath and Beyond (which previously was jam packed with more than any other BB&B in the area) had a fire, once it reopened it was just like the others, COOKIE CUTTER!
  13. Jason your pics now make me want to go. I just wanna see the packaged goods, the frozen section and the cut meats
  14. Okay let me give you an example of what Im trying to get across... I lovvvvve Oden, I can eat Oden Japanese and Korean style 2 times a month, but I go to all the Asian mkts near me and they have the same damn Oden sets, nothing new, interesting or fun, certainly no novelties. Ive been going to Asian mkts since I was a teen, Im 45 now, I need some variety...
  15. Hi, Ive been to the 2 HMarts (and the Maido & Assi Plaza) in the Philly burbs but Ive been thinking of driving up to Mitsuwa in NJ, buying as much as I can with coolers. BUT I wanna know if its worth it. For those of you who have been all of the above places is the Japanese selection very different at Mitsuwa?
  16. Is there any reason why this particular HMart has absolutely no heater inside? I thought it was a fluke once or twice, but after yesterday I truly dont believe they have a heater installed in the bottom floor. I was getting over the flu and I felt great yesterday morning, drove there, went in and walked around for 45 minutes shopping. I had a bad sore throat by the time I left! I think it is constant 40 degrees inside

  22. I dont mind smelly cheeses but I once tried what I was told was Provolone at Tallutos Italian Foods and it literally tasted like puke. It was the worst thing Id ever eaten. I had to run to my car to rinse my mouth out and stop gagging...
  23. Aaaww Chris Im sorry.
  24. Yes, thats why we have this thread, Chris, to discuss it and tell each other where to get foreign made versions, like in Canada. Campbells in Canada still make it.
