  1. that cupcake that looks like the skull and crossbones design is a trademark of Johnny Cupcakes. He's pretty big here in Boston. I was actually wearing one of his shirts today...little ants in a row carrying cupcakes I have too many tattoos on my arms, none food related. If I were to get something food related I think I would get something cute like candies, lollipops, or maybe some other kind of sweet in the sailor jerry style
  2. just my luck, I miss you in Boston by one day!!!!! crap
  3. I actually stayed at the Polynesian resort in Disney w/my grandparents when I was 10. Unfortunately I don't remember much about the food. Although, I do remember having an awesome brunch with all the Disney characters. I probably had egg beaters, microwave bacon, and pancakes.
  4. I think I would eat some dog. Sign me up, if I visit seoul next year!
  5. are they still showing boiling point on BBC America by any chance?
  6. sometimes I will use it in a baked macaroni...yummy
  7. I am a big fan of Hell's Kitchen, this season and last. Kitchen Nightmares is equally great....but I like him better in Kitchen Nightmares because he seems a lot friendlier also I HATE Sarah. I was really praying that Virginia would stick up for herself (as well as the other ladies) when she was in the running to get the boot.
  8. all the etiquette pointers make me laugh. I usually eat rice with my chopsticks and only rice with a spoon when i am dipping said spoon into a stew (which is very rude). Oh well, my mother and relatives never scolded me when I did this. Also, I think metal chopsticks are alot easier to use than wooden chopsticks. The points at the end of the metal chopsticks come close together making it easier to grab really small items. That's just me though Unfortunately I don't know of any other webpages that list types of korean dishes. Do you know of any more?
  9. you can get natto at the Super 88 chains in boston. Its not NH, but it's close. There is also a japanese grocery store that sells it in Cambridge. I am pretty sure that it is cheaper at Super 88
  10. all of that food looks awesome...especially those dumplings. Its also conveniently located near the middle east do you live in boston by any chance?
  11. I did until she kept saying yes to : "Is it gizzards or spincter?" by the way, I LOVE gizzards

    Favorite Pilsners?

Jeez, I would say sweet and ricey, if that is even a real word I know it sounds weird, but when I look for a pilsner I try to note how much it tastes like toasted rice ps: I broke down last night and bought warsteiner and pilsner urquell at the grocery store
  13. yeah the lines are long, but the turnover is pretty quick. The arancini is awesome! Thats the rice ball stuffed with the beef and peas, right? If so, its delicious.
  14. Im surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but my favorite spicy snack is some kimchee flavored ramen that is eaten raw. I open the ramen bag, sprinkle the spice packet into the bag, close it, crush the noodles, then eat them. It's trashy, I know I used to eat this more often when I was young. I also like those japanese rice crackers that are shaped like little crescent moons and are slightly spicy. green chile peppers dipped in go chu jang or doeng jang is also good
  15. I am not sure if this post belongs here or in the media forum.... I recently watched the newest episode of No reservations and I was skeptical about the chicken anus/sphincter (?) that Anthony and Nari were eating. I did a little research online and I believe that what they actually ate were kidneys or gizzards. I even called my mother to ask her what in the heck it was and she said that the chicken butt was in fact a gizzard. She also said it was a chicken butt too? (sometimes communication with my mother is iffy) So what in the heck is it? Rectum? Sphincter muscle? Gizzard? Kidney?
  16. the north end is great, but I have one problem. WHATS UP WITH ALL THE DOUBLE PARKING? Its almost as bad as southie Jason, those oysters look delicious. Do you know what kind they are? I really like going to Galleria Umberto for really cheap sicilian slices. They are only open for a few hours on the weekdays and when they sell out of food they close shop.

    Favorite Pilsners?

thanks for all the suggestions I know what you mean when you all say "get a fresh bottle". Ive had a lot of hit or misses with some pilsners like zyweic, jever, etc. victory prima pils is a great choice, but I feel it is a bit heavy for a pilsner (but that is just my own opinion). Brooklyn pilsner okay, but it tastes like a slightly better version than pilsner urquell. I will definitely try some of the beers that you guys recommended
  18. shiner....ahhh gross "shiner" is a nick name that has been given to me by my sister's boyfriend (my name is sheena) and when him and my father found shiner they were all too excited to share it with me... So when I visited my parents a few months ago I tasted shiner for the first time in Maryland and it was horrible. I believe it was a hefeweizen and boy was it nasty. I will stick with yuengling
  19. jeez......this reminds me. My boyfriend said and I quote "you are more annoying about Korea than this girl" what's wrong with being "overly" passionate about your heritage/food? come on now. In the 2nd to last scene when they were having sam gyup sal/various gogi bbq, I agreed with her 100% when she said she was the most happiest as she was dipping her chile pepper in go chu jang I am so glad I am visiting my Korean mother in July
  20. try putting it on your tongue and leaving it there if it melts...it's a rice wafer or rice paper....depends on the thickness (rice wafer being the thickest)
  21. I've been into German style pilsners lately and I was wondering what are some of your favorites?? I am trying to steer away from Belgian's because I have been into them and nothing else for a long time now. The only pilsner that I regularly purchase is Schwelmer...are there any other that taste similar?

  23. isn't the first season winner supposed to compete on Iron chef america? I would much rather see him than the runner up.
  24. FINALLY!!!!! Thank you Tony for doing a show on Korea. Its about time. I have been waiting for a few years now (including cook's tour era) for you to do a bit on my country (well, my mother's country). I loved Na-ri/nare (sp?), I thought she was funny and as excited about Korean food as I am...which is a big plus. There should've been more explanations on the various banchan and dishes though. I knew what everything was, but I had to constantly explain to my boyfriend what each dish was. Everything looked delicious by the way. The last meal was the best though. I have never seen such an elaborate spread for a korean dinner. I believe most of the dishes (the radish wrap) are/were originally reserved for Kings and Queens. Also, in the hangover soup...was the meat pork neck bones? If so, that is my all time favorite hangover cure in korea. I have had a really good example of that in Incheon and it was amazing.
  25. nately, thats an awesome suggestion btw. I was thinking of suggesting that myself, but I hear the service lately is sub par because of all the hub bub
