  1. same place I have for the x number of years ... in the non working dishwasher.
  2. Is it scrapple?😁 Chicken noodle with the stock from the freezer....for tomorrow.
  3. And we are so lucky he is still with us after his car accident up in Greene County many years ago....
  4. No, @HungryChris…. We tease you because we love you and your incredibly beautiful food...especially zucchini and salsa.😃
  5. It shut down quite a few years ago...😛. While most of my husband's family DO belong there I do believe I will try to find a meeting to go to. It wasn't far from where John's grandmother lived. I also worked for a year at a psychiatric hospital, Greystone, here in Morris County NJ. It was...interesting.... Claim to fame was that Woody Guthrie lived at Greystone while he was in the final throws of Huntington's disease. And one of the administrators there at the time had known him when he started out as an orderly.
  6. Hail, hail, Freedonia!!!
  7. I love everything y'all have done but I just want to scream and run away. John is supposed to get back from Thailand on Wednesday night(here)/ Thursday morning to his body. I called my one BIL and SIL to ask them plans...nailing freaking jello to a tree would be easier than asking anyone in Poughkeepsie what they are doing...and my BIL, Larry, in ALL SEROIOUSNESS said " well we'll just got to the grocery store on Monday". 😣 As I am now supposed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for several days with the NEW STOVE / OVEN for between 6 and 15 people and none of them know when they are going to show up I am thinking about pleading (mental)illness. I won't but will show up and do the right thing. HOWEVER I am going to request that before next year we create some sort of plan. I got a Hatfield ham, I have the sweet petite gherkins, I do REFUSE to use canned sweet potatoes, brown sugar and marshmallows - I will bake them and then whip them, some green beans and roasted carrots. After that I really don't care.

    Dinner 2018

Kim, even worse for me.....The song from Duck Soup, "Hail, hail Freedonia" is a diss on the college town where I went to school. When the Marx brothers were on the vaudeville circuit they played in Fredonia, NY and the locals ...shall we say didn't appreciate their humor and gifted them with some ripe tomatoes. Years later when Groucho was touring college campuses SUC Fredonia was the only place he would NOT appear. Had a classmate named Tom Dudzick who created a one man play about Groucho.
  9. Chicken noodle tomorrow with some good looking leeks and carrots and using up the chicken stock I made with some roasted chicken breasts. Perfect for a rainy day I do believe.
  10. NOOOOO...…. Actually my mom taught me to sing, at age 4 or 5, her favorite song... You can tell the girls from Fredonia State You can tell them by their walk. You can tell the girls from Fredonia State You can tell them by their talk. You can tell them by their manners, their attitude and such. You can tell the girls from Fredonia State But you can not tell them MUCH!! Mom was class of 1947, I am class 0f 1976. Which is how I the two kinds of beef on 'weck, sponge candy and what Anchor Bar wings are as well as spiedies from Binghampton - halfway between Fredonia and Shelter Island are.
  11. Kerry, He is psychotic about it. Course for many years he would NOT eat bacon as he read it caused raised cholesterol. My mom challenged him to get his cholesterol checked...it was less than his weight (which at that time was 115lb for a 5'9" male of 34 years old). He gets these bees in his bonnet and it is hard to shake them out.
  12. Now John would take a spoon and scrape EVERY LAST BIT OF BURN off the biscuit as it "causes cancer".
  13. OK... anyone with a delicate stomach and sensibilities turn away. A piece of rustic rye bread smeared with some blue cheese then heated for about 30 seconds in the microwave then topped with the last of the sour cherry jam.
  14. WOW! John would love that......especially if there were a leatherman incorporated as well.
  15. reminds me of the Great Molasses Flood of Boston....
  16. so...….had a yen for mushroom soup instead. Simmering right now is the Les Halles mushroom soup made with half veg stock and half water. It smells so good. Another 45 minutes then blend and I have some rye bread I made that should go well with it. Maybe with the last of the onion jam?

    Dinner 2018

Another 45 minutes and there will be beef stew. Think some of it will be for tomorrow.....more frozen to take up to Poughkeepsie for Christmas Eve. With all the sadness going on right now I don't feel much like eating. 😢
  18. It seems Katie has finished her journey ... https://billypenn.com/2018/12/09/rip-bartender-katie-loeb/
  19. WOOF, WOOF!!! I'd eat it....especially with some tiny peas bathed in butter.
  20. a small plate with two preparations of oven baked mashed potatoes. I was reading Tiffani Thiessen's cookbook and she had a baked mashed potato dish with sour cream, butter and cream cheese. No cream cheese for me - none in the house - but used Lactaid sour cream and some butter. Added some onion jam to one dish; put some three cheese on the other and put into the oven for about 25 minutes. Came out a little browned and crunchy around the edges -and top for the cheesy one. The onion jam melted into the potatoes and I dolloped some Sun Gold tomato jam with ginger from Rea's Farm down in Cape May NJ on top of the cheesy one. I think I need a bit more...…. Quality control, don't you know.
  21. my brother-in-law just sent me a text... I have a great Christmas present for you guys and 30 C. Take a guess. I replied... No...No...Nooo….. Not another psycho cat. He replied ... Think cooking and baking. Do you prefer original or glass top stove. 3 years with no working oven and 2 out of 4 working burners. I CAN COOK AGAIN!!!!!! HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dinner 2018

Interesting....my great grandmother's cook book that she wrote out for my grandmother calls for thinly sliced round steak pounded with some flour then cooked in fat. Add a cup of water and a small can of tomato, salt and pepper. Cover and cook slowly for 1 1,2 - 2 hours.
  23. Vegetable broth going right now. It's supposed to not even get to 30 degrees F here tomorrow and I picked up a butternut squash. I'm going to zap it a bit in the microwave then peel and cut it into chunks. I found a recipe for butternut and carrot soup and one for butternut and red lentil. Not sure which one I feel like making. Sunday I'm going to take care of those chicken carcasses I have.
  24. NAH..... negotiate and if that doesn't work retaliate. I'm SURE you have or can get some embarrassing pictures that she would not want posted.😈
