  4. Out for a little walk on the boardwalk after dinner - lots of posh people lined up for the Miss America Pageant at the Boardwalk Hall. Saw this at a spot in a little plaza on the boardwalk - made me think of gfron1 - had to take a picture. It was a counter.

  8. I have no idea if these photos are in focus cause my phone screen is too small but we set out to find breakfast close to the hotel. This place bills itself as a creperie- Breakfast sandwich for Rodney Rubber omlet for me

  11. I'm sure they will - we will see if we can find Dock's Seafood tomorrow.
  12. So after we had set up our booth and before dinner we headed out to check out a little of the city. Just outside our hotel Rodney was crowned Miss America - with full sound effects! We headed off down the boardwalk heading north until we discovered that the reason all sorts of people were lined up along the side in chairs and all the garbage cans were 'out of service' was that a parade of Miss Americas was about to start. So we went as far the the striking Trump Taj Mahal then skeddaled back in front of a whole bunch of police on bikes and people with bells and banners following them.
  13. As Rodney mentioned we were less than enchanted by Gordon Ramsey Pub and Grill (so much for the suggestion from NJ Monthly) - we had been out for a long walk so it was on our way back. We did discuss whether it would be bad form to run after drinking the water and before ordering as finding something on the menu to appeal was kind of lacking. I had decided I would have the prime rib - the server asked Rodney how he wanted his burger cooked and before she left I thought I should confirm that I wanted my beef rare - "nope - it's in slices and has to get heated up so it's well done" - "want to give me that menu back again then so i can start over please". Shepherds pie for me - lamb - lots of rosemary. I've eaten worse. Burger for Rodney - he's eaten worse as well - but totally unseasoned he found it rather disappointing. We didn't stay for dessert.
  14. @Alleguede and I are in Atlantic City right now getting ready to show off the EZtemper at the Philly Candy Show. We flew in to Philly and picked up a rental car at the airport - when the fellow at the car rental agency asked if we were taking the car out of state I mentioned we were headed to Atlantic City he said to me "good luck" - I thought he was referring to my chances at the Miss America Pageant tomorrow - but apparently he was referring to my chances in the casinos. We flew out in a small plane - which was nice in that carryon luggage didn't have to be carried on so no one was counting the number of pieces and noticing they were longer than 21 inches. Rodney brought me breakfast - a slightly squished chocolate chip snail under a Kouign Aman - flight attendant was very jealous! One wrong turn and you get take pictures of the city as you enter more than once!
  15. I think I'll hold out for stainless. Will see if I can find a store selling them to check quality.
  16. Nope - just random splits around the top. If you look on Amazon there are some pictures of bottoms that are practically shredded.

  18. Natasha, Have you had a chance to test out the flanara pan you purchased? I bought the same one - used it in my steam oven - when I opened it there were splits in 3 places on the sides. It's of course heading back to Amazon - would love to find another that will be more substantial.
  19. Russets, 70 minutes, steam bake 400F. Perfect crispy but tender skin - dare I say almost custardy centers!
  20. I don't think the pinch you add to the coffee grounds is enough to be unhealthy - if indeed salt is evil.
  21. I'm sure there will be - so far he's been using it to temper his small batches of bean to bar chocolate - finds it a huge time saver.
  22. Always good to have friends around with fermented liquids they don't need!
