Sour cream cookies - hermit variation for ER today Apparently the flood downstairs is our fault - or perhaps it's my ability to remain calm while those around me are losing their heads that made him think that I didn't give a rats ass about the flood.

And try custard in there too.

Lunch was with Lisabeth of Ultimate Chocolate Blog fame. She brought me some goodies from her garden and some of her fabulous new bean to bar products. The Cacao Cookie is one of my faves.

My lunch from Loco Beans - same panini as before - can't recall the name - but it's the turkey, stuffing and cranberry salsa.

Yes I had Anna in fits of giggles with the brown bastards but she was concerned I might be accused of racism. I did explain I'd cook bastards of any colour in the same pot! Oh - and pastry is fabulous in the CSO hammer - Anna made a bunch of tarts when we first got it here up north that had the best shells ever.

When looking for the right appliance for the task - I prefer to cook my brown bastards in a cast iron kettle!

Banana bread for manor Used up leftover fruits from the galette to make another of those meringue cakes

Pizza was safe - eaten out of hand from plates - plates fly well down below when you are rail down!

It was a stinker of a day today - so it was a wonderful evening to be out. Quite windy when we got out near Schreiber Island - close reach got I her nearly rail down - always fun with non sailors on board! The Wiki Long Term Care staff brought along pizza from the new place in town and a fair amount of beer/wine/coolers. No animals available to be lifted! Sailing back to Little Current along the North Channel with the sun coming down behind us! No one lost overboard - the cookies must have been put in the sink however and water got in to them (my own damn fault when I was having fun getting her rail down and causing everything down below to hit the deck). Only a couple could be rescued at the end!

Interesting - cooks.com seems to have a number of similar recipes (with better cheese and butter in place of margarine) - they call it Mock Oyster Stew.

Sorry - just correcting the inadequacy of the sour in the sour - somehow I translated 3/4 ounce lemon to 1/4 ounce - and our sour wasn't very sour. I was going to post about the chocolate before I was taken off for the very important task of squeezing another lemon and rectifying our cocktails. Second batch of black garlic caramel - first batch as you may recall I forgot the butter! Took the side rails off this am and after we returned from the Flee Market I discovered it had slumped. So threw it back in the saucepan, melted it out and reboiled to 123º C. Original recipe called for 118.3º C. After it had firmed up and I removed the sides and determined it didn't slump - I put a back on it, cut it into pieces and dipped them in a mixture of milk and dark chocolate. With my leftover chocolate I added some cut up dried strawberries and made some bark.
