The first batch of holiday catalogs has started to arrive. Do yours get dumped or used? What are we ordering for our friends, loved ones, and in-laws this year? So far I have only recieved the Figis (Hickory Farms wannabe) and O H Bakery ( kringle, cakes, and traditional Danish)...ohdanishbakery.com. I think the O H Bakery is going to replace Figis for the in-laws this year....and maybe just a few Kringle for myself...just a cherry cheese, some pecan, and maybe apple, well they say the raspberry is very popular too. So what do we send and what do we get from the well wishers out there. Last year we revieved a big basket of assorted chocolate covered pretzles that were damn tasty, but thats all Tracey

Lots of fun foods for parties can be set out in the crock pot from Chile or a saucy vegetable dish to pulled pork for sandwiches. I do my pulled pork using a small bottle of Frank's hot sauce, onion and garlic powder and a big handfull of brown sugar or maple syrup. After it cools you can defat the drippings and mix with some BBq sauce to add back to the pulled meat. Just leave it next to a basket of buns and let everyone have at it. tracey

Even for NYC and even for Kosher thats freaking expensive. I have done my time with high end caterers in Bergan County NJ that could have certainly served cabbage and sting beans for less.... I mean ...I mean that like $12 worth of food wholesale..... Having a family event/holiday catered still blows my mind. sorry tracey

Has anyone tried making their pie crust with the cheese right in it? Every time this comes up it sounds like a good idea to me but I have never bothered. I really like cold sliced apple with good chedder...its so nice the way the apple starts to beak down the cheese right in your mouth. t -
