Open faced toasted cheese, done in the toaster oven....take about 5 slices of cheap american cheese and lay on a slice of bread, place in toaster oven and watch till the cheese puffs up and turns almost black. Then you peel the blackened cheese off put it on your plate and repeat 1 or 2 more times then you can fold your sandwich together with whatever cheese is left. Little bite of sandwich ...little bite of burned cheese alternating yummies tracey

The roast chicken is a perfect start but make sure is its a real big one and on sale, everything you dont eat the first night can be sliced and diced ( another dinner portion in one zip bag, chicken salad for lunch in another zip bag etc. While the oven is on stick another hunk of meat in there too a pot roast or pork butt, also portion out out for meals and sandwiches. Freeze most of it. Now you have at least 2 choices to start a meal out of the freezer with. definately make stock after you strip that bird and freeze in different size containers all the way down to ice cube trays. Further fixins for soups can be sauteed lightly and also portioned and frozen. (I once took most of a leftover crudite and sauteed the veg then made bags of frozen goodies to jump start meals) Now next week you can spend big on fresh veggies T

Truth be told I have had many more meals in Reykjavic than Newark.... strange but true ...and I live 30 min from Newark....Reykjavic also has really good bread just like Newark tracey -
Sadley the only real picnic I remember having was at a James Taylor concert with my mother ...happily I got all the food from work We had cous cous salad with diced veggies and herbs, sliced grilled chicken, cherry tomatoes with mozz dressed with pesto, grilled slices of french bread, chilled Rose and iced lemon pound cake and raspberry bars. Carried in one of those really cool picnic backpacks that come with plates glasses linen napkins etc The nice family next to us had ham sandwiches on hamburger buns, cheerios and gummi bears washed down with juice boxes...they kept peeking at what I would pull out next... tracey

Last Sauturday we went to see a matinee of Spamalot. Since buying the tix I had planned and overplanned going to Bar Americain, even debating meeting up with more people to try more items...I wanted just apps 7 of them maybe dessert. We arrived out front at 4:15 of course they dont start serving till 5. We wondered off towards Ninth Ave and went to the Mercury Bar. Had oysters, crab cakes, wings, and coconut shrimp should have had a cheese or garlic bread to round it out but hit a bakery for a yummy instead....all total tax tip beers and bakery 85 dollars nothing to write home about but solid food. So we "done good " huh?? T

Last time we had the pepper forest going I made stuffed jalepenos, froze a bunch of different ones plain, and dried the long skinny red ones strung with needle and thread ...as long as you are cooking with them the defrosted texture doesnt matter that much and they slice fairly nice if you catch them frozen just right amount T

Marlene dont forget you can bake in the BBQ on a 100 degree day when I was first married I made pillsbury biscuts and shake n bake pork chops right on the grill came out as good as usual just had to turn them over a few times on an insulated baking sheet the baked brie....if you freeze the brie you can bake it alot longer so the pastry browns better ...insulated baking(airbake) sheets help for browning the tops next adventure...you have propane, get a turkey fryer tough to clean but if you are parked, just cover it good after cooling the oil or keep the plastic jugs the oil came in...get a funnel tracey

....and again Sunday we dragged a motley crew of bikers on a "3 hour tour" with 14 of us washing up at Geoffs door. As we pull in its a total Oh No....half the building is gone, Barnstormers sign is gone, now What?......look a little closer the little glowing pig in the window is like a beacon of BBQ in the chaos. They are building a new Target on site so business should soon be booming. After seriously talking up this food since March we have our fingers crossed...the place is packed 40 people for a graduation party have 2/3 of the room when we get settled in 4 booths that leaves just one table open. Fortunatley most of the party has been served so we dont wait around too long for food. Geoff runs out to greet us and back to the fire. OUr table of 4 started with a pound of killer garlicky saucy peel and eat shrimp and the nice hot smokey wings, both killer and moved on to 4 plates of ribs from the delicate 1/4 rack to the 3/4 and a 1/2 rack 1/2 a chicken plate. The sauce on the side folks were very surprised that the sauce wasnt all thick and gloppy (they dont like gloppy) Our buddy Jose who has lost almost 30 pounds since his last visit saved up all his calories for a week and got the pig out... I think all that was left was the corn bread, those pesky carbs ya know. Our good taste is now assured to our friends they all loved it. I think Barnstomer has 10 new customers. the only pictures I have are of the After and thats pretty scarey tracey
