We arrive at the park nice and early got to watch some of the prep work around 11am Got our place in Ed Mitchel's line around 11:45 we were 12th but had to stand there at look at those beautiful plates for 15 min... the line quickly left the "people snake" and formed down the street We took our big piles of pork to a bench to enjoy ...shreaded whole hog, coleslaw, roll, cracklins and 2 nice RIBS So who is this guy everyone seems to have a picture of him And for Mayhaw man and his offer to send some Bubbas to stock the Bubba tent ....this IS NYC we have everything tracey
  2. It was mentioned that pre-prepared food was used for last nights event..... I dont think thats the case for today and tomorrow got to go eat BBQ Tracey

I just saw this on the food network here and it was truly DUH why didnt everyone or at least, why didnt I think of this.....Frittata in a muffin pan....bacon of course.... for all the low carbers out there, I mean it basically an egg muffin totally portable and totally tasty even for a fancy luncheon offset on a nice green salad.... tracey

I was recently trying to explain the blech burger to my daughter....its from the good ol' days and included ...ground beef- ketchup-pepper jack cheese- cheddar cheese-diced onion- lawreys season salt and everything else in Bob's mothers cabinet....shaped like a nerf football and grilled maybe I will make some when she gets back from vacation...I dont know if it can be made while sober though tracey

I have also spilled a #10 can of ketchup all over myself at work and I already hated it the big problem was as a child any field trips...school, scouts, what ever they took us to McDemons so there was nothing for me to eat but french fries because they pre-ordered for us. I would just cry and eat my fries tracey
  8. Today we made our second trip from North Jersey to the Lake Wallenpaupak area (Hamlin PA) in One week for some RIBS. These are very good ribs Open pits run by hot grubby teenagers that you line up right along side, so by the time you order you want one of everything...they have beef and pork ribs, pork chops, and chicken. After they slather your order with their herbed bbq sauce you move down the line to the corn, beans, french fries, pickles area...then they toss you a plate with a dinner roll butter packet and napkin...grab a soda and pay. Out back there are nice picnic tables with umbrellas and seating inside with A/C also. Along the fence are a few Hose and paper towel stations to clean up after the meal. At the front of the building is a buther shop with some nice cuts of meat, sausages and... in the freezer ready to go More Ribs and their sauces. KUNDLAS WESTERN BEEF Located in Hamlin PA rt 590 at rt 191 which is at exit 17 of RT 84...as in I 81N to I 84E to exit 17 rt 191N to rt 590 turn left ...less than a mile on the left Where there is Smoke there is Fire I told them they were gonna be on TV Part of todays lunch tracey
  9. For starting out definately the beefsteaks with some early girl and big boys thrown in too ....see how well they do then next year you can start playing. I really like the big yellow ones called lemon...something.... tracey

Going back a page to the mention that because of extended daylight in the summer Saturdays dinner may be considered part of Shabbot does that mean Fridays doesnt have to be because its well before sunset?... just being literal here ...because if you are observant you probabley arent looking for ways to get around the rules anyway..... grew up in an extremly Waspy/Italian Catholic area tracey

I decided to bring an uninvited butt to my mothers BBQ Sunday, she was making the regular stuff burgers, london broil etc but I kept seeing all these beautifull butts so ......saturday I did a nice dry rub on a 7# butt 6 am sunday we lit the grill... a Gas grill Fired up one side to medium put the meat on the other and started laying apple wood chips through the grates, after about 2 hours it looks like this......notice the lack of a water pan no more pics sorry, but we smoked for about 3 hours then just let her cook for 4 more, just at the last moment it was done enough to pull...it was good I think I need to rework my rub, but there was shatteringly crispy skin for all except my mother who didnt try any even though I choked down some london broil The real fun began the next day after an early start we hit Kundlas Western Beef in Hamlin PA (poconos lake wallenpaupak area) for a nice slab of rbs, half a chicken and corn etc. Grabbed some of their very very different basting and finishing sauces and some keilbasa About 5 pm had hubby fire up the grill again while, trimming some beans I notice ALOT of smoke coming from the grill...more than while smoking the day before... So that drip pan you should put under the meat really would have stopped all the fat from landing on the lava rock, dripping out of the bottom of the grill and landing on the rubber hose that connects the tank. Well we finally smelled the burning rubber and disconnected the tank before blowing up the house guess I will get some charcoal for the webber next time tracey

I long ago realized that I learned to cook because I didnt like anything.....Raw tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, olives, cream cheese ( I work in a deli by the way)....coffee, goat cheese.... I didnt eat cheesecake for many years as a child because I found out it was made of cream cheese I was very lucky that in my house if you didnt like it ..dinner... you could go make an egg... I make great scrambled eggs tracey

    Oh I cooked it of course ...poached in sugar water...it really just tasted green not too bitter or anything... I actually waited all these years to try it because I hadnt tasted rhubarb since highschool home ec I think it may be a form of dock ...yes the stems have a pink strip right up them...these things are getting huge "i'm not dead yet"...(with fake english accent) tracey but I do have to reidentify these other things in the lawn I am sure they are edible shhhhhh

  19. I use mine for ... Pork butt in the winter 1 bottle durkees hot sauce and a hand full of brown sugar.....sauerbratten.....and chili sometimes.... BUT the coolest is to take a whole deli pastrami and some pickle juice(commercial) and let that go all day....oh man is that moist and tender tracey its great for serving at paries too

    Can someone with Rhubarb growing post a picture? or maybe I should just post a picture of whats in my backyard to see if anyone else thinks its rhubarb...my husband hates when I pick random things and eat them .....I think its rhubarb but its kind of just at the edges of the lawn not... garden like 3 yrs now I just end up mowing it tracey so much for that idea it just started pouring

    A little late on this one but Monday was thin sliced ribeye steak, chorizo sausage, guacamole, salsa, and tortilla chips all topped with over easy eggs...... alas no beans now serving this the night after roasted cauliflower maybe wasnt a good idea tracey
  23. I love you too because it is soooo gross to work in gloves and watch people around you touch everything in sight because Ya know... their hands arent getting dirty right I voluntarily use them for raw meat and bathroom cleaning..usually not the same pair tracey

I just checked recipe source and the best looking one they had listed was made with brownie batter spread into a half sheet pan ...remove, trim, cut in half, fill, then score to desired serving size Mmmmm sounds good to me but also could just do brownie cookies.. I saw a show on Food Network inside the Blue Bunny factory and they mentioned how suprised the public woud be to know that the cookie starts out crispy but gets soft because of contact with the ice cream hope it helps T
