Sandy rt 4 runs east/west from the GW Bridge..and ummm well kind of dissapears after the malls in Paramus... Ok I will give it North Jersey above rt 80. This all really a VERY old joke with some hispanic co workers who really thought I was kidding saying everything below rt 4 was "yucky" to put it politely. Wildwood was full of Canadiens and an extra 2 hours away! I am on my to the diner...I wasnt even going to get fries....no I will not get fries before a big ride for BBQ. tracey

People, North Jersey is anywhere north of rt 4. The Shore is Seaside Heights. French fries get gravy on them anytime except "normal" breakfast hours. And I only heard of disco fries 2 years ago after living in North Jersey for 38 years.

You know this is killing me....its not like there is a Korean restaurant around the corner out here. But I did just find some kimchee at the sushi counter in the supermarket. Its not going great with the caesar steak salad I made for lunch but.... tracey

Just maybe I saved some of last nights 3 lobsters... now mind you I didnt save much, just a few knuckles, well 6 of them. But 1 sausage and egg biscut and 1 butter poached lobster and egg biscut is not a bad way to start the day tracey

Julie at one end of the roast there will be a fat line that separate the large "whiter" meat from a redder part. I cut that whole chain off sometimes and trim it up into chunks to add to tomato sauce. Where it is the largest I tend to leave it in the chop so you get the 2 textures in one pork chop...those are all mine hubby doesnt like the fat line in his meat. tracey

"" Another interesting thought, at risk of wandering off topic ... Our late nineteenth century gentleman would no more have thought of putting on an apron and cooking half a cow over a fire in the back-yard than he would have worn his wife's underwear to work (?) - so when did this modern "manly" tradition start? "" Usually the post World War 2, car driving, suburban family with a backyard, is credited with the grilling craze...and some guy named Weber too. Multi generational household.....I think the only reason my grandfather grilled was that my Aunt and I kept setting the hemlock tree on fire. Either the needles on the ground or the tree itself from using too much lighter fluid. tracey

I kind of like where I am with it now I use Lee Kum Kee Korean bbq sauce with a little chile paste and sesame oil for the beef, and lots of chile paste with a little of the BBQ sauce for the pork. I made a great radish and cucumber pickle last week it was a very pretty pink. t

When we actually had a local Korean restaurant we ate there...its gone. We have one about 25 miles away now, we have been there twice in 6 mos. I have also started making my own completely bastardized Korean influenced meals with beef and pork in commercial "korean" sauces, fresh pickles I am learning to make, and greens and other veggies with sesame and garlic. Its fun, its tasty, but mother sure as hell wouldnt eat it. tracey

We were good with the service I think the waiters name was Gabe...we kept messing around saying gail and dave etc. The only strange thing was when the music turned on at very high volume all by itself. they all ran to the hall to make it stop, got it off and walked away. Bam happened again no one was near that spot either....must have another controll someone was messing with. So beth evie....when? tracey

...Too cold for the patio in March and a tad too warm in July. We met another couple for dinner here last night, actually while they waited for us at the other Italian rest near the Wachovia bank we waited for them at Trattoria Fresco. It worked itself out by 7:10 or so. We knew this wouldn't be the plate-passing fest our Egullet meal was, but the other couple only planned on getting themselves 1 app to share so we did the same The Frito Misto, we had to ask for fried lemon slices though, my entree was the roasted Halibut with cabbage, frizzled onions, yellow and red tomatoes, fennel pollen and sprouts. That is just a perky happy dish, every item goes with every other one. Hubby got the Lobster and Shrimp over spaghettini, what can you say it doesnt get much better than that. The others at our table partook of the Short Ribs and the pasta tasting, she did ask about the lobster mashed potatoes from last years fall menu but no go. We finished with the 4 gelato cones and capps and tea. I have to say very few restaurants bother with a tea selection...how freekin hard is it to have 4 or five kinds of tea in a basket or a box??? Trattoria Fresco has a lovely tea box tracey

A lovely dinner tonight with a co-worker...all appetizers. We had "the eggroll" there was cabbage and roast pork and bacon and some candied orange in there with a smokey tart marmalade on the plate, Butternut squash pan-stickers with ponzu, angry calamari with a nice spicy aioli, crispy shrimp and pork wontons with citrus segment garnish and a tuna tart...sushi rice, seaweed salad, tuna and spicy mayo. And of course the lemongrass soup with strawberry sorbet. Yummy as usual tracey

Soryy I never did finish this off did I?.... Friday after the lame expensive hotel food we had a meeting to decide when to come home based on the doom and gloom weather forcasts. Our choices were take the long way around to the north Kentucky, Ohio etc, Sat into Sunday. Or wait till sunday and blast up 81, or blast up 81 Saturday. Saturday straight up 81 it was...6 am chilly ground level fog we thought it was super cloudy, there was so much fog we couldnt see the sun for hours. At 225 miles we were allowed some Cracker Barrel breakfast in Virginia somewhere, hours later also in Virgina there were some candy bars, and joy of all we had a late lunch at the Sheetz gas station in WV. I dont what my burger was made of but it wasnt meat, tasty enough, just not meat. So we made it from Downtown Knoxville to Bloomingdale NJ in 14 hours stopping every 110 miles for at least gas and drinks, I had 6 Mountain Dew in that time span Canada next year lots of pics and video down there\/ Tracey
