  1. Wow Abra!! That looks amazing! And quite an undertaking! What is Punt e Mes? Forgive my ignorance please.
  2. Chris that is my favorite way to do steak!! roasted with beans and mushrooms, yum!! Dinner tonight was inspired by Thomas Keller's video stream on Epicurious: Herbed gnocchi (made a few weeks ago and in the freezer) with roasted sweet potatoes, yams, leeks, herbs in a butter sauce. With a simple salad. And the WOW Renwood Barbera 2001 in the glass,
  3. We used some leftover minced pork from last nights dinner to make sausage! Yum, with fried eggs and lattes.
  4. I heard a rumor that if you didn't larb you would get banned from eG..... .......I love eG........so we ......... ......LARBED!!! Fist time larbers, long time readers! boneless pork butt ribs with a few substitutions (we didn't have lime leaves or galangle... lime zest and ground ginger stood in.) YUM! had it with ginger-ini cocktails and then Columbia Reisling. this stuff is spicy!!!! we are babies, loved it but will reduce the chili peppers next time.
  5. Yeah.....we had our first larb!! pork used and it was spicy and good! casual dinner of larb with ginger-ini's and then a Columbia riesling
  6. mmm...Friday starting at 5:30 we had ginger-ini's.....perfect!!
  7. If you use them just to add to stock do you still need to de scale and peel them first. I will admit that there are few things I won't try...chicken feet may get added to the list though....they look SCARY!!
  8. hmmm....Last night I was thinking that we had better service than we've had in the past! haha! I've eaten at Cafe Campagne a few times but honestly I like Le Pichet better. I think its a combination of the atmosphere, the changing menu and the owner. It just always makes me feel like I'm in one of my favorite neighborhood bistros in Paris. And I have to say that I've never heard French Bistro food referred to as French Trucker food. Someone should tell Keller before Bouchon does too well!
  9. you're most welcome. just curious -- do you remember which cremant? some of the Alsatians blend in pinot blanc/pinot gris/riesling/whatever. which to me just makes the wine more interesting. ← I honestly don't and unfortunately Le Pichet (where I had it) isn't online. They had a few different types that I recognized from your article. Stop it and have a glass!
  10. Le Pichet is also having both a dinner and a party. The party runs from 10 -2 and no reservations are needed. You do need reservations for the dinner.
  11. We tried a glass of Cremant d'Alsace last night due in part to this topic I had read and then recognizing it on a wine list. Very interesting. It absolutely tastes different than Champagne but honestly if I hadn't known what it was I don't think I would have questioned it. As a novice I'm just not that good. I picked up a lot of hazlenut flavor and it was "creamy" tasting. Anyway thanks Jon for the info on these, i would have never known.
  12. I will be in town on Jan 6th and I really hope they are open!!! I am so looking forward to pasteries! keep us updated if you can.
  13. I love poms too. I made a shrimp ceviche with poms a few weeks ago and it was outstanding. The flavor and color of the seeds was a huge hit. They are also great in guacamole!!! Plan on doing that this weekend.
  14. I did a search for Le Pichet but just came across the chicken post so i thought I'd start a restaurant review post. My husband and I have been eating here for a few years now. We just love it. I think it's the best priced french bistro in Seattle by far. Anyway we went last night for dinner and again it was awesome! As usual our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs and we just couldn't stop ourselves from ordering way too much. Started with a glass of cremant d'Alsace (sp?) thanks to the topic & article of jbonne's I just read. Dayne had a lentil salad with greens and sausage with pistachio from Lyon. YUM! this is awesome, there is a bacon vinaigrette or something on it and the lentils were perfectly cooked. I had the pate which is just so good I can rarely not order it. Next up we ordered a pichet of cru Beaujolis and I had the onion soup while Dayne worked on a huge charcuterie platter- ham, sausage from Lyon, pate, rilettes, another sausage and veal tongue. oh my!! the veal tongue was soooo flavorful and the rilettes just rock! We shared the roast chicken, it was perfect as always. So juicy it boggles thought IMO. Served with a gratin of potatoes, leeks and gruyere. We were soooo stuffed, no room for cheese but the selection looked awesome. And all of that for $115! DAMN!! I love this place
  15. Luckily LEdlund put in an order and they brought in a half case so I picked up 2 bottles last night. All set in Seattle!
  16. I wasn't a member last year so I didn't make a list but I got to some fantastic places this year! Arzak L'Atelier Joel Robuchon Babbo Circo (LV) Lutece (LV) Chez Panisse Aqua (SF)
  17. We ate with friends at Tutta Bella last night. The atmosphere in the place is great! They had a musician playing which was very fun. Service was great! Salad was great! Wine list and pricing...great! Pizza??? EH. The crust was WAY too soft. I had the Margarhita and it was too heavy for that. Really soggy on the ends- all of the pizza's were that way. The flavors were wonderful but the crust lacked the crunch! The place was packed so obviously others don't mind. The owner's wife (can't recall her name) came over and chatted with me and was very nice. I was dissappointed
  18. Got a card in the mail from Nells last night: 6 course prix fixe menu $75 per person seating from 5:30 till 10 pm Hats, noise makers Reservations 206.524.4044
  19. Dinner tonight was simple and quick as we were at a company dinner party for a while. Had some leftover oysters from our party on Sat- Oyster po'boys!
  20. Wendy, I knew there was a reason I liked you. That's my favorite dish there. (Although the chong gin chicken is a very close second.) ← I probably took your advice on my "lunch in the ID" thread!
  21. The hand shaved dan dan noodles at 7 Star is awesome!!!
  22. Some that come to mind: King Fish Cafe Ezel's Fried Chicken Lola Flying Fish
  23. I actually love this place but, the service sucks so bad that Mr Ledlund won't go with me anymore. It has become the place I go on the holidays that only banks get. I always get the hotlinks omlette with fresh fruit and a scone. Yum. ← OMG! This is service at it's crappiest! I'm with Mr. Ledlund....grrr..pisses me off everytime I go. Not good for my morning crankiness! haha! I'm with Della- Queen Anne Cafe chicken fried steak rocks! I also am in the minority of people on this site who love the 5 Spot. But generally a breakfast of turkey sausage on a noah's bagle is my fav! Or that stuffing like dish they make at Macrina.......what is the name of that yummy stuff? mmmm.....
