  1. I have to go to Costco tonight so I have it written on my list. Fingers crossed that it will be there, otherwise I'll just call my wine shop. Very cool, looking forward to this.

  3. Judith you can add those cloves to dishes of potpourri, it adds a nice smell!!!
  4. I'll make the mignonette a day ahead. As for salmon, we all eat so much of it anyway that we usually don't serve it for holidays, funny hu? Every year we try to do a cocktail everyone seems to want something else...wine, beer or vodka/gin drinks. So last year we started having it a BYOB. We found this worked really well and then we just offer different shots! haha! It also saves me on glassware!
  5. We are having a holiday party this weekend for friends, work aquaitences, family, etc. It's a nice mix of people! Very fun and festive. The house is decorated and I have my outfit. 35 people coming...here's what's on my menu. -Brie baked in puff pastry with raspberry/rosemary sauce served with crackers and grapes -Oysters on the half shell with mignonette sauce -Pancetta, Leek and Goat Cheese Tartlets -Gougeres -Olives, Almonds and Hazelnuts -Gingersnap cookies Does this sound like a good round of nibbles? Any suggestions? What's on your menu?

  10. dark, stormy and rainy in Seattle..... just like in London right??? Shepards pie! in the dish... and on the plate with a nice green salad and an O'Reilly's Merlot 2002 (sorry for the bit of blur) There is cheese on top but it is white, extra sharp Tillamook Cheddar. mmmmmmmmmm!
  11. I've also eaten at Kau Kan and loved it. This was years ago but I remember the fantastic view and an amazing tuna carpaccio! Other more casual places I liked were Banditos and La Sirena Gorda, excellent fish tacos!
  12. I would make an onion tart- you can make it the night before, serve it at room temp and slice as thin or as thick depending on the # of people. Or you could make mini onion tarts and even use the premade shells if you need to.
  13. We had speghetti squash roasted then mixed with marinara and parm and baked back in the over. Veal breaded and pan fried with a bit more marianar on top. green salad.
  14. I am curious as to the method of cooking.of the pork. It sounds like it may have been cooked sous vide. Does anyone know if they are using that method in the kitchen there? ← When Dayne and I were there in July he had the pork chop, I'm pretty sure it was grilled. Jeff, did they drizzle the balsamic on/around it?? mmmmmm! LOVE Babbo!
  15. Placebo, have you ever tried a pasta attachment for the kitchenaid? just wondering as we have played around with the idea of getting one. I haven't had a hand crank type either.
  16. Percy, I feel honored that I inspired! Your hash looks very good. Love the apples in it don't you?? Breakfast today was a piece of toast spread with avacado sprinkled with s & p and an eggnog latte.
  17. mmmm...aren't Sunday dinners the best?? Everyone's looks great!! We decorated the house and tree all day so while we did that I made chicken stock to freeze for Christmas dinner. Then made tagine of lamb and pears for dinner. Served with basmati rice, pita, and a salad of cucumber, red onion and tomato We had an inexpensive Cotes du Rhone with this which was excellent!

Dinner tonight started with Ginger-ini's, pate, onion confit, mustard and cornichons Then Dayne cooked a roast chicken with soy/port marinade, broccoli drizzled with lemon and garlic olive oil and wild rice.
