  1. Enjoyable post. I am a college park alumn and have nothing but found memories of the area. I think i might have stopped over by the race track in laurel a few times (a week).. Those pics of Natty Bos took me back alright. You ever see the rib king out there in Laurel.. Its a small metal truck that has this great old guy banging out ribs and briskets. We had him drive his truck to our house in college park for a party one saturday. If you see this guy, he is worth stopping by.
  2. Was up there this weekend. The phone is on now with a message.. Was wondering what the status on this place is.
  3. Found a mini Bottle of CHambord in my place. Thought it makes it look a little more evil.
  4. The gyro or hot turkey at marathon deli in College Park is a thing of beauty.
  5. Just got some white bullets in to my office. I am plannign on making some sauce tonight but am really tempted to take a bite out of one of these things now.. Can anyone tell me how hot these little suckers are compared to say an orange habenero? These things are way too cute to be hot.. yeah right http://forums.egullet.org/uploads/10968298..._1096909821.jpg
  6. I am planning on going to Bar Tonno tomorrow. The new Italian seafood bar which L’Impero chef Scott Conant just opened. Has anyone been here yet? I really dont know what to expect in terms of dishes or pricing. Thanks for the help

I went to Devi last night and had a terrific meal. I ordered the tasting menu and was not disappointed. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated. Lots of warm rich colors and plush fabrics. Half of the restaurant is opened high ceilings the other half has the second floor. I love the space, very similar to one of the ABC carpeting buildings. My date and I sat in the back of the restaurant that looks like it could be sectioned off for a private party. Most people will tell you to not go to a restaurant when it first opens in order for them to get the kinks out. For Devi, this is certainly not the case. There really was no indication that Devi hadnt been opened for a long time. If this is them just starting, then I couldnt imagine them at full steam. The meal I had was amazing. The service continued to be gracious, and exact. I am not going to go into a long description of each dish, but everything I had was amazing. Some of the highlights are the scallop dish, the veal bruschetta was really rich and decedent went sooo good with a glass of wine. And if the GIGANTIC shrimp served with fried okra and stuffed chicken was the only thing I ate instead of it being one dish in a long line, I would have left happy. One more thing, if you are going to go for dinner and get the tasting menu, dont eat lunch. There is really so much food being served and you really have no choice but to eat everything. I am still full this morning.
  9. My favorite use to be OLA. The smoked marlin salad was terrific, there were lots of little plates which were really different from each other. Unfortunately, it has the dreaded "closed for renovation" sign outside. Does anyone know the status of this place?

  11. I had some really bad duck tongue at Great NY Noodle Town. Havent found any place that prepares it well in manhattan
  12. Went to Casa Mono last night. Since so much has been written about this place i dont really need to go into the menu or atmosphere. One thing i will say is that i was on my way to katz's deli while wearing; an inside out t-shirt, a baseball hat from college, and jeans that are 4 waist sizes too big for me without a belt and had no problem getting in. For appetizers we had the cheese croquets, the cheese dessert plate, and the bar jamon. The croquets were too salty, needed a dipping sauce and were pretty boring. The cheese dessert place sucked. Three, six, and a year. Great. How inspiriing. The ham of the house. Good stuff.. I need one of those suckers at my computer to gnaw on all day. Next we had lamb, skirt steak, and the sweet breads.. The sweet breads were interesting, always fun to tell my partner exactly what a sweetbread is while they are eating it for the first time. They were breaded with some type of ground almond powder. Very good, not great. The lamb chop was by far the best thing we ordered. Excellent. Seasoned perfectly. The staff and managment was really great and the food was certainly good, but I dont see myself returning anytime soon.
  13. Also speaking of Rubens Empanadas i went there for breakfast this morning.. And although they have breakfast empanadas, i opted for a spicy meat and a 1chili empanada.. They were both really good, i just think the place is made expensive.. 3.5 for an empanada. I dont know, i just spent 7 and am looking for something else to eat.
  14. Hypotheticaly, If someone were to use the restroom, like an hour after handeling one of these peppers. And say hypotheticly the person was to exeperience extreme discomfort afterwards. Is there something someone can use to help themselves in an office environment.
  15. And sorry there are six types on the paper towel.
  16. Cherry bombs.. She told me she has a hot purple ones comming up. She doesnt have a tag on them and doesnt remember.. She really hates peppers and primarily does it for me, but she can pretty much make anything grow. I am anxiously waiting on these white bullets, and this hot purple guy. Can someone tell me is this the hottest pepper in the world?
  17. About two years ago my secretary mentioned to me that she has a garden in new jersey. I live in manhattan and dont have the oppurtunity to have a smoker or a garden So i was very happy to hear this news. Well, since then i have been getting her seeds from everywhere. And her garden is completely overrun. So much infact she complains that her other vegetables are getting spicy I have had mambosa seeds from Africa, i have gotten. chocolate habeneros, white bullets aka "gringo killers" and so on. I have always made that uncooked sauce made from distilled vinegar, salt, garlic, and a little ketchup and NC bbq sauce. Well i have about 5 varities ready so far, still waiting for my little bullets and others.. But i definately want to try the cider vinegar and carrot sauce. Thanks for the help.
  18. the Australian KING crabs were about $200 :) http://www.hedge.net/fields/giantcrab.html Damn. How many people did that thing feed. Anything where you would look as natural on your foods plate as the food looks on your plate is a pretty intense thing.
  19. their cream puffs are amazing! I know its a Japanese chain that had a branch in Beijing where I stopped every now and then for one. I didn't realize there was one in the US. Next time in town I'm going to have to stop in, though I'm glad to be far away, because they are both addictive and extremely fattening... Do you know if they have them in Hong Kong as well.
