  1. That actually sounds quite lovely, itch22. Got a name brand? How is it packaged?
  2. Not exactly, Jason. It's a whole nuther thang.
  3. Aaaah so, thank you Chef Shogun. The ones that I recall were grilled in places such as Waffle Shop, et al.
  4. Why would you?
  5. I saw some today at the Asian supermarket that I've been frequently lately, and almost bought a jar. But, b-i-l is semi convert, so..... What might that be, please?
  6. I remember half smokes from back in the day. Juicy, flavorful embedded with whole mustard seeds that explode against the tongue like...errr... caviar. Are half smokes not found in other cities?
  7. Last night I received a care package of Sabrett's purchased at Pentagon City's CostCo/Price Club, however, they're skinless - still yummy!
  8. dexygus, I'd love to see your cake when you're done baking it.

  10. Oooh thanks Holly, I remember that scene, too! In G3, there was Michael's birthday scene, was there a cake, too?
  11. I could be mis-remembering, though
  12. Wasn't the cake in the shape of Italy? While Michael Corleone's son sang the theme song in Italian/Sicilian?
  13. Me, too! I wish they'd stay open at least until I get up there next week. Those burgers look amazing and I want to have my first concrete!
  14. Dean, I feel your pain -- it's happened to me a lot. This may be blasphemous, but I (ever so slightly) parboil my chicken livers before seasoning, dredging and frying. Pops and splattering are at a minimum. I like to treat those pops on my face and hands with egg whites, how did you treat yours?
  15. For the same reasons Pan has stated above, I believe Singapore also offers a wealth of distinct, assorted, and merged (fused?) cuisine. Hawker centers to haute cuisine, Singapore, with its culinary and dining scene, is a candidate for most interesting food city in the world

How wonderfully bizarre that we are crossing paths this way. I'm in the DC area during Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr, customizing local ingredients to achieve traditional dishes, and there you are on Mohammad Ali Road in Mumbai savoring the delicacies there! Looking forward to your photos and more of your report, Edward.
  18. Cinnamon-y? Cloves? You know how Dr. Pepper is sometimes served hot, can you envision the Holiday Spice Pepsi as a hot beverage, Jon?

My most lovely Sue-On, No burning ears, but my nose has been twitching a lot! It's been kinda cooooold (for me at least) here in the DC area, I've been thinking of making a nice soup to break the fast. I'm looking to you for suggestions, you always have the greatest ideas. I wish I could send something tasty to your student, good Ramadhan greetings, though! Do not despair, there are only 7 more days til Eid al-Fitr (Hari Raya Idul Fitri), which marks the end of the fasting period and celebrated with special foods. My best regards to Ben -- Happy hunting! Got game on the menu?!
  20. Muchas gracias, dear dear Esperanza Those dogs look amazing.... alas no smellavision So the secret is mayonnaise, eh? Thank you again!
  21. Ellen, a thousand thank you's for allowing us to live/eat vicariously through your breathtaking photos and commentary. Truffled eggs & foie gras ravioli!?! Oh. My. God. I don't know if I could handle more photos of your evening there. (But somehow I know I can and will ) Swoonfully yours, Yetty

  25. Hey there, woodburner --- It was such a revelation to me! It's Gwaltney Beef Bacon, cured and smoked beef plate, hickory smoke flavoring added, comes in a 12 oz. pack. I'm not up on what the good/popularl/preferred brands are these days, though. What time is nightfall, Esperanza?
