  1. And don't forget Chinese 7 Treasures for dessert!
  2. I think I am going to sue KULR 8, our NBC affiliate. They showed Crossing Jordan, for crying out loud!!! And when I looked up BRAVO on search, there's no listing for it, either!!! Heads will roll...
  3. I suppose my worst meal was when my daughters brought me nearly raw fried eggs, pancakes in clumps, orange juice with skin and pips and all, and bacon burnt to a crisp. It was Mother's Day. I ate every speck. Not only my worst, but my best meal, ever.
  4. Pickles, that sight was great! Thanx very muchly...

    Dinner! 2004

Jinmyo, that's a gorgeous plate of groceries! That's a generous-looking hunk of cat. I love whitemeated fish-freshwater or sea...am seriously getting ready for some catfishing here soon!!
  6. Well, I think it was the mayo, because everyone else had the same cocktail but with red sauce on theirs. I picked the aolli sauce because it was more lemony! So we all figured it was that. Dunno for sure, but I was a sick puppy.
  7. Perhaps the name of the joint should have caused a pause with regards to hospitality: Tommy Gunn's? Hello...perfect name for a re-plant of the witness protection plan, hmmm?
  8. In a more serious vein---greens. Wild greens. Dandelions, of course, but lambsquarter, beggars purse, purslane, and epizote. Devil's claw is eaten at a tender stage by Native Americans, as is--look out--tumbleweeds. Don't say yuck, try tender shoots before they get 'spurs' steamed. Later, mustang grapes. And every Texas teenagers favorite find--watermelon or corn snitched straight from the field--sometimes accompanied by salt; courtesy of the field owner!!!
  9. Country (or similar) ham and small bisquits. Small rib pieces done in Chinese style. Butchers will cut a rack into serving size for you.
  10. Welcome to eGullet, chittlins...live long and prosper!!
  11. I like the little "new" potatoes that you split the top about 1/8" or so, then scoop out a shell, which you fill with whatever sends you. Yum... Martha's hors d'oeuvre book is good!

    Deep-fried Nirvana

Man, I have got to quit reading this thread!! Tonight we're having good ole chile dogs, uptown style...and I want some of nearly everything I've read...shame on me.
  13. Yep, I'm not obsessive, and the mayo/seafood cocktail was in a wellknown Vegas eatery, tho' I never get ill at home from food. I don't think we need all the bactericidal stuff pushed at us. I feel we just breed bigger, better stuff that way. SK brought up a good point about anal-retentiveness about germs. Hell, I grew up on a farm, and I reckon we'd have starved to death... or my gram or mama would've given us a smack and told us to get over it!
  14. That one gets an award for the goofs you can't get away from!!
  15. And for the lighter eating little pirates: shish-kabobs !
  16. Yeah, if you are going to take advantage of the joys of your pet, it ain't fair to leave the miseries to strangers.
  17. I would have dropped everything and run! Gadzooks! Yeah, why didn't they rivet a plaque on those old fridges saying "Do not defrost with hammers, screwdrivers, or power tools!" ?
  18. We are way behind in this.

Mayhaw Man--that honeydew sorbet sounds like it could be kicked -up with Midori drizzled on.

That menu absolutely makes my heart 'ting' happy. That sounds so good!

    Whole fish

Does anyone else snip the fins and gills off? I've always done this for I have always been given to understand there is a bitter flavor to the gills, and snipping off the fins just kept you from getting poked.
  22. Yes, mayo with anything---keep that stuff COLD... the worst real live food poison I have experienced was from a Mayo-seafood salad in Vegas. I spent two days in hospital while everyone else partied...It's getting on picnic time, so keep that tater salad on ice!! Bring a bigger bowl, and keep the salads cold-please! Edit to add, a bigger bowl with ice in it, and the salad embedded in that! DUH...

Definitely try the pickles. Sonic drive-ins (of which there are none up here--grrrr) sell Pickle-o's...and they ARE good. Try em!!
  24. I did that with basil just awhile back. Oven roasting a big packet of potatoes, sweet peppers, mushrooms, and sweet onions in a big foil pouch. Put the butter in, opened a shaker bottle of basil, gave a BIG shake, and realized the shaker top was inside the cap. Lots of basil...it actually came out good. Good thing it hadn't been cayenne!
