Thanks! I'll check it out! I was in Austin last week for work, and tried Dirty's. I really liked the burgers, but the onion rings - not so much. They had this weird floury taste. We also went to the Texas Chili Parlor - I don't know if that qualifies as fast food, but the chili I had was pretty good! But thanks for all the great tips on this thread!

We added gravy to ours! Yikes!

I watched her last sunday. She made pink meringue "kisses" that "match my kichen. And my sweater!". She also made fondant covered marshmallows. I think they were skewered on colored straws or something. I had to brush my teeth after watching, they were starting to hurt just looking at all that sugary stuff!

We made a pretty tasty one with apples, gorgonzola, walnuts and rosemary. It is usually a hit when we have people over.

Yep! That's the one! Yummmmmm

There is an awesome recipe for guacamole in one of the Rick Bayless books. I believe it calls for his Roasted Tomatillo Salsa - it is just wonderful and fresh tasting!

I've used this stuff before (RU-21). They sell it in health food stores. There's also Chaser, which works in the same way. You take them while drinking. They work pretty well. If you're out late, you're still tired, but none of the nausea, throbbing head. etc that comes with a hangover. They were running ads for Chaser non-stop last night. I thought it was a joke. So it does really work? I know it probably does nothing for bad acting... Some scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon and toast always makes me feel better. Or corned beef hash! But usually, a couple of White Castles and some chicken rings before passing out usually means no hangover in the morning for me.

I went to school in MA, and they called them grinders there. Maybe it is a New England thing?

Actually, we chose hickory for our cabinets because of the color variations. It looks pretty cool!

It sounds a little like Tanpopo... How about Hotel Splendide? I've seen that a couple times on IFC, I really like it!

More on San Antonio? Anyone? I have to go there for a conference the last week in March. I'd love some ideas!

They do have screw caps for a couple of the wines now.

Put tupperware in the oven to reheat the food. In my defense, I was 15, really tired and hungry, and it was a favorite dish that my mom used to make for us. I kind of cried when I had to throw it out without even getting a taste... And I never did get the oven rack clean!

Is this the book? Treasure for My Daughter. It's hard to tell from the description - there really isn't one!

My sister makes one that is delish! She takes a sub roll, puts garlic butter on it and pops it in the broiler until toasty. Then she takes assorted deli meat, some good mustard and some provolone and/or mozzarella cheese, and puts it on the garlicky bread and pops that in the boiler until the cheese is warm and bubbly. I added to it by adding some torn romaine, tomatoes and sometimes onion, tossing it in a nice vinaigrette, and putting that on the sandwich before eating. It's pretty much your meal for the day!

It is used in hospitals and libraries, which can be high-traffic areas. The renovated downtown St. Paul, MN library has cork flooring in the entry way. I do think the color makes a difference, though. We have two fairly active cats, and have not noticed any damage to the floor. But they're not dogs, so it could be very different! But any damage that a dog would do to our cork floors would probably occur on our maple floors as well, I'm guessing. Those pictures were excellent! How do you not get completely claustrophobic in there? I love the idea of building a kitchen from scratch in another room and turning your current kitchen into something else. I wonder what the quote on that would be?

Definitely follow the manufacturer’s directions and recommendations! They not only sold us the tile, but the glue and the sealant as well. A couple of coats on top of the already existing sealant made a difference, I'm sure. But like I said, ours is a pretty dark color, too.

We like them a lot. It really is noticeable if you are standing in the kitchen for a while, vs. standing on the hardwood. So far, it has been pretty easy to clean. It was super easy to lay - it came in tiles that were already sealed, so all we had to do was put down some adhesive, lay the tiles, and put on another coat of sealant. The tiles cut with a sharp Xacto knive. I think the only thing we weren't expecting was shrinkage - we put the floor down over the summer, and it was tight as a drum. Now that it is pretty cold here, there are small cracks from where the tiles shrank a little bit. But I think we are going to give the floor a good cleaning and vacuum, and put another coat of poly on there to kind of seal them. We haven't had any problems with dirt in there anyway, but it could be that it isn't noticeable - we bought pretty dark tiles.

We redid our kitchen over the summer. Completely tore everything out. I'd say we were about 3 - 3.5 months without a kitchen - we ate a lot of grilled and microwaved foods! We didn't go with a contractor because no one would do what we wanted (new cabinets, move the stove and sink, raise up the counter for a dishwasher - which also required making the windows smaller...) for the money we had. We did, however, find a kitchen designer at the place where we ordered our cabinets. She did the designs for free, was able to plan out exactly what we wanted, and ordered the cabinets and countertops for us. She also mapped out the outlets and plumbing for the plumber/electician, and the hanging instructions for the cabinets. The only people we had to hire were the plumber and electrician, so we saved a lot of money by skipping the contractor. But of course, we did take three months for the renovation. But the trade off was worth it for us, though, because we were able to get Corian countertops, cork flooring and the fridge I've always wanted.

My dad said when he first moved here, he was able to get them for free! I'm not sure if that's true or if he's just exaggerating, but I think you're right - the more people are exposed to how good they are, the more pricey they get.

<p> When driving through Tomah, WI, we sometimes stop at Taco Bell off I94. There is a plaque in the restaurant, dubbing it the "Best Mexican Restaurant in Tomah."
