  1. this makes it even more bizarre. usually the local joints have really good food. even if it is hard to find green vegetable like substances on your plate.
  2. hey phaelon? what was the ethnicity of the restaurant?
  3. my queendom for decent garlic sauce. on anything, but preferably broccoli. they don't make it right down here. :(
  4. so Carnival starts the day after the Feast of Epiphany? i did not know that. of course now i do.
  5. god...atomic wings. i haven't been there in years. still have a big hurricane glass from them somewhere tho.
  6. backyard burger - the bacon cheeseburger chik-fil-a - regular chicken sandwich mcd's - sausage egg and cheese biscuit
  7. The dough weight for a batard is less than a baguette so yeah it will be shorter but not necessarily wider - I'll get the specs on both. You mean what does "bastard" mean in French? Nothing - not used in French. that's interesting. the last company i workerd for there were 2 gentleman with the surname "Bastard" in our offices in France. And they weren't related. I got a kick out of creating their accounts. i named them bastard1 and bastard2.
  8. britney.......2 cases diet pepsi, one restraining order against Bob Dole - 1 good divorce lawyer.

    Chicken Wings

i parboil the wings in some beer, with onions and a packet of goya sazon. then deep fry and toss with some hot sauce, a little butter, garlic powder and chili flakes, and a little honey (not too much).
  10. hmmmi thought a batard was shorter than a baguette, but wider - again, similar to the "italian" bread laoves we have here. on another note - what does the word bastard mean in french?
  11. *lol* JPW - i think it might be one of those "started at a resort up there" things. actually having been gone from NYS for over 8 years, i had to google to find the exact location of the 1,000 islands - turns out we share them with canada. I had forgotten about that. and regaridgn the pain - yeah i was thinking about that too - i guess our french bread is there baguette. do we even have a word for batards? or do we just write that off as italian bread?
  12. wait - so they don't make pain perdu?
  13. the 1,000 islands are in upstate New York.
  14. hee hee...it's all good - i thought i was mistaken for a minute and hten remembered the old "lost bread" story. i guess french bread in france is well..."pain".
  15. hmm...compared to y'all i'm fairly tame. well other than the chocolate protein powder and lemon-lime gatorade shake i'm drinking right now.
  16. i thought french toast was pain perdu? and eggy bread in the uk.

    Aspartame

i don't feel it should be banned - just as i don't feel anything should be banned - what we put inside ourselves should be at our discretion, and i guess that's where my libertarian streak comes through. But i do believe that people should have all the facts, and listen to their bodies - if it's not good to you, it's probably not good for you - and that applies to just about everything. *lol*
  18. french toast with lots of butter and syrup and some sausage links just before going to bed, and a cup of coffee in the morning or eggs, scrambled with cheese and a couple pancakes or over easy w/wheat toast, bacon, hashbrowns with ketchup. Coffee, and perhaps some orange juice. I'm usually starving after a night of drinking.
  19. hmm..if i'm reading the second link correctly - that's an all clear on oxtails no? we need to ask the brit chefs on this site what the heck they were using to make beef stock when they went through their trials.
  20. hmm...one should serve grey goose in gooseberry shotglasses methinks.
  21. here's a link from MSN saying roughly the same thing.... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._us/mad_cow_155 i'm actually thrilled by this - it's one step closer to the overhaul of the meat factory system i'm so disgusted with.
  22. nice googling work! no stalking allowed tho.
  23. why yes. yes i am.
  24. i'm not sure what the irrational reaction is? no one here has decided to boycott beef (altho i think canadians certainly have the right too - on principals alone). there's lots of slamming of current business practice, and i'm prolly the first in line, but heck i've been bashing factory farming for a long time. not just cuz of bse.
  25. this is true. unless of course i invest in a shotgun and let that answer the door for me from behind the chain. *lol* actually i believe one of the old laws for my county requires that each head of household have a gun. for now, i'll just go with not answering it, i think. it's been working well so far.
