  1. ginger ale, gatorade, tapioca pudding. didn't matter how you were sick, this is what was on offer. along with benadryl and sudafed. if dad said so, we got something from the stash of broad spectrum antibiotics. (along with ginger ale, gatorade and tapioca pudding)
  2. i think i liked them when i was a kid too. opened a can with my adult senses a few years ago and thought it smelled like vomit.
  3. Indian moms too. might explain my love of well-done steaks.
  4. i like to simply cut them into sticks and sautee with olive oil, sea salt and crushed black pepper. simple and yummy. and there's always zucchini bread.
  5. does flinging olive loaf at statues count? (had nothing to do with the breakfast club kiss tho). sushi? corn pops? pixie stix? actually breakfast lcub had quite a bit of food in it now that i think aobut it....
  6. i thought 91/2 weeks was kinda lame myself. but then again, i'm all for subtelty so maybe it was too obvious.
  7. wow - i actually thought this was gonna be a request for whatever that drink is that the native men use to get inebriated on in Raratonga. (i think it might have kava kava in it)
  8. i like all nuts but my favorites are hazelnuts and chestnuts.
  9. now that was my moment of zen.
  10. i tip 10% on takeout. i've also always tipped 10% for delivery. but it seems lately that the delivery people in my area seem to expect 20%. what's that all aobut?

    Blackcurrants

mmmmm....dried currants mixed in shortbread or used in oatmeal cookies.
  12. i usually use an aloo mattar (potatoes and peas curry) recipe, minus the tomato puree/sauce/whatever, and cook it till it's dry.
  13. The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea ??? nope - it was an early to mid-90s flick actually. i can't for the life of me remember who was in it tho. I believe the wife was played by Maria Conchita Alonzo. As for the men, I guess I didn't pay that much attention. My recollection was that it wasn't so much a hustler as a young guy who sort of got unofficially adopted by the husband who was teaching him the business and the wife. nice work Bux! it was maria conchita alonzo. her husband was edward james olmos - so yeah, easily forgettable in the role. the movie was Caught. i just found this out the other day. and it was actually kinkier than i remember. (btw - do NOT google fish-fondling)
  14. brilliant idea therese.
  15. huh. i didn't even pick up on the play on words....
  16. Oh, do they still make those? I remember my mom buying them for us when they first came out and I loved them! Now I'll have to get a pack (and disgust my husband)! Eh, if he's lucky I'll find them inedible now that I'm an adult. i haven't looked in prolly 10 years, but Bicycle Lee says they do.
  17. plugra.
  18. mmmm....that sounds good edward.
  19. they had hotdogs with chili in the middle? actually i don't think i could cope with that.
  20. oh my this reminds me of a delicacy i haven't had in a long long time.... oscar meyer cheese hot dogs (the one's with the little cheese globs in the hot dog itself) nuked til it's rubbery and wrinkly and the ends are cracked, dipped in frank's hot sauce. i used to love eating that.
  21. so is that where people are finding granite ones? the asian markets?
  22. i believe this is in reference to salmonella poisoning and applies to soft-boiled eggs. (which were a staple of my toddlerhood if i recall correctly)
  23. so according to juanito's article a proper bagel is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. i knew i wasn't crazy.
  24. so the brown hot-chocolate looking stuff is the poi then? cool pics!
  25. geez, you're like the Anglican of Bageldom. maybe even a Universalist Unitarian.... tell me something....what's the crumb of an orthodox bagel supposed to be like? i've had cakey and then the moist chewy crumb that i prefer.
