  1. nibbling? and yes....sammitch is irksome.
  2. if granite was easily accessible i think that would be my first choice too. i remember kiewie was telling me about it on the malaysian board.. i love marble and it suits my purposes, but that mofo above looks like it can take anything. granite is way harder than marble.
  3. my mother and i swear by marble. the only thing is that i have had the marble pestle break on me (in transit tho, not from use)
  4. depends on where you are i think. i was surprised to find really good bagels in New Orleans. and they had really good pizza as well. (new york-style on both counts) as for here in atlanta - i'm sorry to say einsteins is as close as it gets although i here tell of soem decent bagelries not in my area. but einstiens everything wit buttah, toasted will suffice. however it does irk me that i can get a pumpkin spice bagel but not a freakin garlic bagel there.
  5. i blame the use of "uber-" on x-files. i also agree on the atkins thing.....if i see "low-carb" especially on some sort of grain product i pitch a fit on the inside. (but i also do this when i see cal-mag tabs so i'm just generally high-strung that way)
  6. Real Noo Yawkahs don't drive. heh. i actually didn't find out that was the benefit of bagels quarters til i moved ot the south.
  7. nullomodo? how do you feel about yumerrific and yumtastic?
  8. yup. aside from that i'm a bagel simplist. everything wit buttah, toasted.
  9. bagels cut in quarters make it easy to eat and drive.
  10. Or am I stalking him? *lol* i dunno - are ya? hee! looks like y'all had a good time tho...
  11. The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea ??? nope - it was an early to mid-90s flick actually. i can't for the life of me remember who was in it tho.
  12. actually wait a minute. considering wild rice is a grass, and not a grain, isn't it technically already sprouted? (i wasn't thinking logically this morning - or as logically as i need to). i remember watching some tv show about how wild rice is collected - but i can't remember if there were actually grains of grass (like rice is a grain of grass) or if it was the inside of shoots or soemthing. either way i think you'd have to start from seed for it to sprout. am i still coherent? either way it gives me agita. i'll not be eating wild rice for a long time. so jinmyo - how long have you had it in the water? maybe you should put some plant food in their too. hee. altho i don't know if you'll wind up poisoning your guests with that.
  13. That double L sound in Allez does not exist in Japanese. AFAIK. Despite 51 years in the US, my grandmother still can't pronounce words with the LL correctly no way. you mean all this time he's been saying "allez cuisine"?
  14. those lycheese were beautiful. hillvalley - is it possible musc man is stalking you?
  15. i remember a movie (but not the name) with a fisherman his wife, and some hustler i think. anyway the hustler starts sleeping with the wife and there's lots of caressing of fish filets. (reminiscent of your article GG). in any case, i'm pretty sure it was an american movie.
  16. well-done steak.
  17. wild rice gives me agita. i'm wondering if perhaps sprouting wouldn't be a good idea. it should technically ameliorate the lectin problem which of course is what gives me the agita in the first place.
  18. fascinating discussion...about the only input i have is that imo the worst thing to have ever happenned to "curry" was the marketing of "curry" powder. in any case - i can definitely see the similarities between mexican and Indian cooking and have often wondered about the connection.
  19. well thank god. so many years i've gone without idlis and good dosas (that weren't homemade and really who wants to do that all the time?)
  20. i've always been an ad rock fan, myself.
  21. they have both green beans and greens no? i vote for lima beans!
  22. wierd that this topic should come up. so these gizmos actually cook the roti too?
  23. you lived in a burritoville?
  24. *lol* i think it may have been my first question when i came ot this forum too. (actually mine might have been "what's the difference btwn butter chicken and chicken tikka masala") hee.
