The owner/manager/big-cheese? Vinnie of Big Red Tomato, 1205 Anderson Ave, Fort Lee, NJ, 201.224.6500 is moving into my home soon so I thought I'd sorta/kinda ask if anyone's ever been to his restaurant?

I was thinking of checking it out before we leave next week. I hear he makes killer garlic knots and good penne, however that doesn't tell me much at all. I'm sure you folks my friends and fellow e-gullet folks can give me some insider info if we should run over there to help pay his mortgage! :raz:

We've been there once or twice. It's OK, but not with the wait or hassle of parking in that area. There have been some posts about it in the past, some on this thread.

Thanks Jason for the heads up! Maybe I'll pass on it if the parking's that bad... maybe we'll drive by and check it out anyhow though.

Actually, there is parking on the residential street around the corner, and in the Fairway lot if Fairway is closed. However, IMHO, don't bother. BRT is just like any other "red sauce" Italian that you see on every corner in Northern NJ. Ordinary and unexceptional. Certainly not worth the long drive from River Vale.

Since I can't sleep I was doing some research on my "buyer's" place. Here's a NY Times article that seems to sum it up as a good place for pizza & salad?!

Maybe I'll pick up a pie next time in NJ if it's good enough. You folks let me know!

Hi everyone! Well we never made it to the Big Red Tomato in Fort Lee, but now we are no longer in our home in NJ!

I am overwhelmed with the amount of restaurants of every taste and type here.

Virginia is truly amazing, especially Fairfax County!

If I ever come to NJ and anyone wants to join me for lunch let's check the Big Red Tomato out and see if this guy has something worth bragging about.

P.S. If you're ever near Reston VA look up Minerva - Man they have a great indian buffet! Bhoj is still far best near Saddle Brook though IMHO! BYE!
