Out from Canongate (in the UK) in November: BOBBY GOLD. A novella: Synopsis:

Sensitive but brutish bouncer/bonebreaker Bobby Gold tries to do his enforcing work for old college friend Eddie Fish with a minimum of force, priding himself on his technical precision yet increasingly sickened by the job. At the midtown nightclub where he is security chief, he falls in love with Nikki, a slutty, tomboyish, alcoholic line cook. Tragedy, love violence and mayhem ensue.
