ONP and Langley area eats?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, we are heading to Hurricane Ridge this weekend and are wondering if there is any place especially good to stop at on the way home sunday for lunch? We'll be taking the ferry over from Edmonds and heading through Port Angeles.

Then next weekend we are staying at the Inn at Langley and before we head home wondered about good/interesting places to maybe check out on Whidbey.

Thanks!

Langley is a bit of a wasteland when it comes to food but there a few places I go to when I am there.

One is a greek restaurant near the Star Store. Sorry, I can't remember the name. I had a servicable greek salad and my mother and her friend had some really good mussels. On the street behind the Inn at Langley is a good bakery. I have been told by people from NY that they make the best cannoli found in the Seattle area. Alas, they have been sold out every time I have gone, which leads me to believe that at least it is good cannoli! Also on one of the side streets behind Inn at Langley is a tea/sushi restaurant. I have only had their tea but it's a fun place to check out.

In case you were thinking of going to the Captain Whidbey, my parents just took some friends from Texas there and all four diners agreed it was one of the worst meals they have had. My Father is not a "food oriented" person and even he agreed it was bad.

Have fun!

Wendy, Richard and I did Hurricane Ridge last weekend. The views are amazing. Even we got some good pix and we often can't say that. Dinner in Sequim was pretty awful, but lunch in Port Angeles on Saturday at Michael's Divine under the organic health food store was very fresh and generous. Richard had the Oyster Po'boy and I had a huge Crab Louis with about a cup and a half of very fresh Dungeness. The service was friendly in an offbeat ambiance.

For lowbrow but delicious, try the apple pancake at the Oak Table in Sequim. For a bit more upscale, Aussie owners, and lavender salad dressing, try Petals in Sequim.

If you go to the Oak Table, be aware that sharing one egg dish and one apple pancake between three people is about right. The apple pancake is immense, but very more-ish.

There actually is a good restaurant in Langley. It is just hard to see. It is right on the highway in a strip mall. An Italian place called Guiseppes. Food was outstanding when we use to eat there. It looks terrible from outside but I have had some of the best oso buco of my life as well as an incredible calmari steak. Well worth a stop.
