Fat-free/low-sugar 'ice cream'

A local ice-cream shop back here in PA reopened for the season offering a fat-free, no-sugar-added soft-serve, as well as sundaes, shakes et al made with it. Their choc. syrup is also apparently sugar-free; the sweetener in both cases, ah believe, is Splenda.

Are any places in NJ doing this? :hmmm:

Tasti D-Lite has several locations in NJ, including Englewood, Glen Rock, and down in Long Branch. Honestly, though, I'm not a big fan of these products; you're much better off with your own concoction of frozen fresh fruit and plain yogurt.

I'm pretty sure that Apple Gate Farms has a selection of both fat free and sugar free items to go with their wide selection of regular ice cream products.

I know that Carvel sells a fat-free soft serve, but it's not sugar free. Ditto for hot fudge, iirc. Applegate definitely offers a handful of flavors, but they're not soft serve.

With the many brands being offered in the stores, I'm hoping that local ice cream places aren't far behind! I always have some of the Klondike fat free/no sugar added bars in my freezer...

Tasti D-Lite doesn't use Splenda, or any artificial sweetener, they just use reduced amounts of actual sugar (here's a link to their franchise FAQ which states this).

UPDATE...UPDATE...UPDATE...

The company supplying the shop in PA...IS FROM NEW JERSEY!!

A Panza & Sons Ltd ("America's largest full-service distributor to the ice-cream industry")

50 to 60 Parkway Place

Edison NJ 08837

Ph 1.732.225.1314

Web www.icecreamproducts.com

So, given that billing, there could potentially be lots of places that could do it...
