Hi!

I have enjoyed the 9 year old La Favorite bottling from 1993 for a couple of years now, but now my supplier says that the distillery has closed ant that that they cant get La Favorite rum any more.

Is it true that the distillery has closed?

Have tried to find an official website for the distillery without success.

Would very much appreciate the adress to their site if they have any.

Also if anyone knows of an Internet shop in Europe that sells the 9 year old La Favorite from 1993, please let me know.

I have not heard that they closed, but you never know.

The Rum can be found at http://www.koelnerrumkontor.de/onlineshop/shop.html and you can find information at www.rumpages.com. Click on library and than click the F. There you will also find (La) Favorite.

The more information, the better.

It seems that www.koelnerrumkontor.de dosent sell / ship to Sweden.

Know of another good european online rumstore that ship to Sweden?

Koelner Rum Kontor ships to Sweden (upon request). Just send them an email. But note that they are on holiday from 8 Febr until 5 Mar.

Futhermore I can recommand the following shops:

http://www.weinquelle.com

http://www.spirituosen-superbillig.de

(they ship to Sweden for EUR 19,50)

For further shipping details also just send them an email or simply call them.

The distillery is alive and well. They added a second distillation column last year, but forget finding more of that 9, I thought it was 8, year old rhum agricole. As tasty as it was, it's gone.

There is no offical site at this time, the French are a little behind the rest of the planet, but they're busy making rhum, so I'll forgive them. There is some informaion about them at the Caribbean-Spirits website, their importer for the US.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay area you can buy La Favorite Rhum Blanc, Ambre and Vieux (not 8 year old) at a number of bars, restaurants and liquor stores. It is also the well brand at The Slanted Door if you are in the area. And David at Enrico's makes a great ti' punch.

I had a chance to taste these when Ed was in San Francisco recently, and I'll vouch for how good they are. I've never been much of a fan of rum (sorry, Ed!), but these were fabulous. The vieux is smooth enough to sip neat, and they were all successful in the ti' punches. In fact, I'm going to try to find some this afternoon and experiment with some other drinks.

  • 3 weeks later...

Don't apologize for not being much of a rum fan Jaz, you probably haven't had an opportunity to taste many good sipping rums. But you aren't alone. I'm coming back to the Bay Area next week and look forard to seeing you again.
