Without having to revert to a grocery store or Cliff's in Carrborro, does anyone know of a good butcher shop in Raleigh, NC?

William, most of the better butchers are found in the Latino markets. I believe the News & Observer ran a story about this recently. I'll see if I can't find a link.

Not quite on this same topic - but almost - visiting the folks for the holidays - any place in Triangle area to pick up whole foie gras?

Seek out Frank French at the Fresh Market in Cameron Village. He used to work with Will Therrien at Therrien's Butchershop in Chapel Hill. He is without one the most accomplished butchers in the state. He can and will cut just about anything, and he is a nice guy. We miss Therrien's Butchershop very much. It was a haven for food lovers from accross the Triangle.

I just saw foie gras at Fowlers in Durham.

I was about to report the same.

And I've never been too impressed with the meat quality at Fresh Market. But maybe I've just had some off experiences.
