I really enjoyed Quimper and we did have a nice lunch there---just a simple place we stumbled upon near the pottery shops.

We enjoyed the tour of the factory and also shopping afterwards; you can get very good prices in their "second' shop--and they will ship items home so you don't have to worry about transporting them back in one piece.

"Under the dusty almond trees, ... stalls were set up which sold banana liquor, rolls, blood puddings, chopped fried meat, meat pies, sausage, yucca breads, crullers, buns, corn breads, puff pastes, longanizas, tripes, coconut nougats, rum toddies, along with all sorts of trifles, gewgaws, trinkets, and knickknacks, and cockfights and lottery tickets."

We very much liked L'Absinthe in Honfleur.

Honfleur was also the town in which I became enamored of Calvados, thanks to a marchand de Calva who decided I needed an in-depth tasting survey when I admitted I'd never had it. I left with a couple of bottles of 12 year old Chateau de Breuil and a new addiction.

Should your route change and take you into Bayeux, I recommend the appropriately named Petit Bistro, just across the street from the Cathedral.

We'll be in Honfleur next month and have made plans to lunch or dine at Le Chat qui Pêche, near the harbor. Several knowledgeable people have recommended it, and the menu (on the restaurant's web site) looks interesting.

Reasonably near Quimper, in Pont-Aven, is the very good Moulin de Rosmadec.; it has one Michelin rosette.
