Restaurant Building Razed in Paramus

The restaurant building on Forest Avenue just south of Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus has been torn down, making way for a Senior Residence. It's a shame nothing ever made it here. Seems like a good location, busy road, lots of parking-- but it seems that this place had 6 different owners and 6 different names in 12 years. I think the building is only about 20 years old. It was renovated about 8 years ago as well. The names I remember were Martire's and Spasso. Anybody remember some of the other names?

In an area needing good restaurant choices, it was sad to see the bulldozers at this spot....

I don't remember the other restaurants that were housed in that building, but it certainly seemed to be a cursed spot, don't you think?

Too bad because Paramus could really use a good restaurant. I guess there's some promise with Chakra, but I gather it's fairly expensive and more of a special occasion place - at least with my pocketbook.

Not too much of mention in River Edge or Oradell for that matter...I like to eat at Babylon in River Edge (next to Huffman Koos.) It's a small, family-owned Turkish place. The food is fresh and the service is friendly. Reasonably priced, too.

I also go to Namaskaar n Rte. 4 in Paramus for Indian food. It's not quite Kinara in Edgewater, but it will do. They take the Entertainment card, so it's a cheap weeknight alternative.

Napa Valley Grill in Garden State Plaza is not bad, but you have to contend with the mall...

Got any Paramus vicinity favorites you'd like to share????

Ah yes, I remember Monte's!!!!! Never tried it, but I sure drove by it all the time. Forest Tavern goes too far back for me. I'm not a native Bergenite.

Tawaraya was in the Bergen Mall section next to the old Shop-Rite. I think it's gone now, but I could be wrong.

That location was kind of cursed. My Dad lived in Paramus for many years, and I recall always joking with him about what the place would be called next time I drove by it.

Hmm. Seems to me I know a few locations like that. In Fort Lee there's that spot in a strip mall next to a 7-11 which I recall going through about 10 different hands in about the same number of years.

Maybe there's a thread in this. "What are the most cursed restaurant locations in New Jersey?"
