Bathroom Attendants in Restaurants

The NY Times ran an article about bathroom attendants last friday. Of course, it brought back memories of this thread.

Standing Sentry, Armed With a Towel

In a city obsessed with service and status, people like Ms. Dossantos are an important if oddly invisible presence in the restrooms of New York's clubs and restaurants. They represent a touch of class, providing mints, cologne and mouthwash to patrons, directing the flow of traffic and keeping basins dry and toilets clean.

At crowded dance clubs and chic lounges, attendants also function as foils against illicit activities: smoking, drug use, even sex.

After several Mint Julips and lunch in the Clubhouse and Milionares row at Churchill Downs you will find all the bathrooms have attendants. Very nice gentlemen (in the men's room) and women (in the ladies room) schooled in the Old Southern Style of service for the well off race fans. A tradition that still continues for the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports".
