i'm considering bringing a rose from rhone. had one the other day at china 46, and it paired well. plus, no one will want my pink wine, so i can have it all to myself.

I will, you know I like swill.

I will confess, I offered my soup dumpling to tommy. If I hadn't we'd be getting like a whole order of them per person and all be too full for our Ruby Pork and Sea Cucumber. :raz:

Jason's actually worried that I didn't order enough food. Hah! Anyone who was there last year know's that's not possible. It may be one dumpling per person, but by the time we're on our fifth course, you'll all be saying, "how much more to go?!" Think of it like a tasting menu.

it's hard to tell how much food it will be. however, taking into account the price, it *has* to be enough. i rarely pay more than 20/25 per head there, and that's with larger groups. so, using price as a barometer, i'm guessing i'll stop eating by the 10th course.

I'm still unclear on how to get there, and I don't want to miss my one soup dumpling. Is there really no online map service that can pinpoint the actual location?

dude.

jeesh.

"take the GWB to 46 West. China 46 is immediately after the Grand Ave exit."

from the turnpike north, get off at 46 east. take the first exit, take a left to go under 46, and quick left to get back on 46 heading west. it's directly on the right. big yeller sign. looks like a diner.

Tommy--I think FG is coming from Princeton. Please give him directions from Princeton!

why must he confuse me:

from the turnpike north, get off at 46 east. take the first exit, take a left to go under 46, and quick left to get back on 46 heading west. it's directly on the right. big yeller sign. looks like a diner.

Kim - Bond Girl told me she isn't coming.

Tommy, do those Chinese characters say, "Fuck you"?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Slight modification to tommy's directions to be even more explicit:

Do whatever you do from Princeton to get to the Turnpike North (probably Rt 1 or Rt 18 or the Parkway)

Take NJ Turnpike North to Exit 18W

Stay to the right for the US-46 EAST-WEST exit toward FORT LEE/ HACKENSACK, then Merge onto US-46 E toward RIDGEFIELD

The Grand Avenue exit will come up very shortly, Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto ramp

Turn LEFT onto GRAND AVE, go under underpass and make a quick left to get back on 46 heading west

China 46 is directly on the right (stay the right as you come up to the highway, it is the second driveway and it comes up very quickly) "big yeller sign. looks like a diner" in front of a semi-scary motel.

If you mess this up, turn around and go home. :raz:

DRIVING ALERT. GOING WEST ON 46 THERE IS NO GRAND AVE EXIT (ONLY IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING EAST) BUT RATHER LOOK FOR BROAD AVE EXIT AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AS ABOVE. JUST CAME FROM THERE AND WE HAD A WONDERFUL MEAL. STARTED WITH SHRIMP WITH EGG WHITE, THEN THE SOFT SHELL CRABS WITH PEPPER AND SALT (TOO MUCH SALT TO MY TASTE) BUT THE CRABS THEMSELVES WERE VERY GOOD AND ENDED WITH FRESH BAMBOO SHOOTS (THE SEASON IS ONLY A FEW WEEKS UNLESS YOU LIKE THE "YUKEE" CANNED VARIETY) WITH WONDERFUL MUSHROOMS IN AN OYSTER SAUCE THAT WE SPOONED OVER OUR RICE TO END A MOST ENJOYABLE MEAL.

P.S. HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE REST. WAS QUITE FULL AND MORE PEOPLE COMING IN AS WE LEFT. I WOULD HATE FOR THIS REST. TO CLOSE BECAUSE OF LACK OF BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY REALLY SERVE EXCELLENT FOOD.

Okay now what if theoretically one decided to come in from the West, on I-80, having just been out in Passaic County? What would the exit be from 80, and then what?

take 80 east to the turnpike south, which is probably marked as 95 south. then take the first exit (it says Ridgefield/Ridgefield Park - follow the road for "Ridgefield" - you want to get on 46 east here). this puts you on 46 east. you'll then get off at the first exit (grand ave) as above.

click here (i hope) to see 80 on the top, the turnpike (95) connecting it headed south towards 46.

BTW China 46 is about 2 minutes from the Ridgefield Han Ah Reum, so in theory not too far from FoodMart International either. Just in case you wanna make a pit stop there before dinner.

Ooh, I like that idea. Okay, so from 80, how do I get to 1/9 for HR and FMI, and then how from there to China 46?

And I just realized now that it's called China 46 because of route 46. Clever!

China 46 is about 200 feet away from the Grand Avenue overpass/exit on Route 46. If you get off on Grand Ave and take a right towards Ridgefield (not towards Englewood), that will continue on and become Route 1 and 9, you will need to bear left at the traffic circle/construction ahead. Drive down 1 and 9 to hit Han Ah Reum and Foodmart.

I have no idea what you're saying, dude.

Its very simple.

You get off the Grand Avenue exit like in Rachel's directions, but instead of making a left, you make a RIGHT. Grand Avenue IS 1/9. There is going to be some construction so make sure keep to the left when driving on 1/9.
