I think it has been about that long for me, and I live here!

Now I prefer Freshness Burger!

I used to love their kinpira rice burgers.

Looking at the menu now online, seems like they've come out with some interesting new stuff. Roast pork with a sauce of apples stewed in wine on graham bread?

What's freshness burger?

Is it the same?

The bun is rice?

No rice buns, just regular buns!

Here is their menu:

just click on the hamburger (menu) at the bottom, the menu is all in English.

Their negi-miso burger is great, as is the salsa burger, I also love the lemonade and the lemon-cranberry soda

took the kids to MOS burger for lunch yesterday and I tried the naan-taco thingie. I have to admit I rather enjoyed it, maybe enjoying it again.

I think MOS is one of the few places in Japan you can get onion rings and damn were they good!

I love MOS burger but it has been only a memory....

Wish they would open a branch in LA....

heehee, maybe I should open one. Wonder if they franchise?

Ubon in the Beverly Center used to do a pork version of MOS burger but they took it off the menu.

Think they do franchise.

We used to have one here in Kuala Lumpur. It was all the rage when it opened - there was a queue to get into the shop. Unfortunately, business slowed to a trickle once the rage died down and they eventually closed it.

mos burger is popular in singapore. personally i don't like the rice burgers, because the patties always fall apart during eating.

their fries are thickly sliced (like UK chips) and taste as if they are freshy made, always a highlight for me.

I like the rice yaki niku burgers because it sort of reminds me of a grilled rice ball and it soaks up the juice from the meat...

I asked for the Jambalaya Burger last week but they didn't have it yet. Despite the fact that the place was plastered with posters for it.

A few days later I ventured into a McDonalds for the first time in months just to get the yomogi-anko maki, which was displayed on a sign outside the shop. It wasn't on the menu yet.

WHY do they do that???

you have to read the small print on the poster that says which day it goes on sale!

I have also done this more times than I can remember, like don't put up the signs unless you can actually order it.

They are just taunting us, look what you can eat NEXT WEEK!

Does Mos Franchise? Is the pope Catholic?

Cracking the US market is a little daunting, however. I think that even the one they had in Honolulu folded. The only Mos I have ever seen was in Shanghai. I've never tried it, but it's on my list (at number 3,739).

took the kids to MOS burger today, that jambalaya chicken was really calling to me!

I was pleasantly surpised it was quite good, the orange flavor in the chicken was quite pronounced (are there oranges in jambalaya?) and I really enjoyed it. I liked the asparagus and the lettuce but felt it would have been better with just one or the other, preferably more aparagus.

Those onion rings are too damn good!

There are no oranges in a traditional jambalaya.

Course, that never stopped the Japanese.... lol

EDIT: I did find one recipe for Jambalaya Chicken which uses OJ... But it seems to be chicken on top of pre-prepared jambalaya, not a jambalaya with orange in it per se.

I've seen some modern gumbos that use orange juice though.

the newest Mos burger, this one sounds like overkill to me:

the rasisu baagaa hayashi (rice burger hayashi)

two rice patties filled with hayashi (a Japanese version of hashed beef similar to a stroganoff, normally with red wine and a demi glace sauce) on top of breaded cutlet which in turn is of top of what looks to be scrambled eggs with some red bell pepper tossed in:

holy cow!! i hadn't thought about mos burger in years- i lived on okinawa from 1993-95 and ate there. have to say, though, that mcD's in japan was the best ever- would go to the drive through then wait in the parking lot for the fresh, crispy fries and a totally steaming hot burger! the only problem was the napkins-couldn't sop up all the burger juice with the funky napkins.

Actually it looks really good!

I never did get to try the jambalaya chicken so I don't want to miss out this time. Hopefully I'll find myself at a Mosburger soon...

A clumsy translation of the burger description:

'The jalapeno's heat

is subdued with cheese.

A mild spiciness.'

The contents of the burger, from top to bottom (based on the handy diagram):

bun (made with sprouted rice)

tomato

meat sauce

onion

jalapeno

mayonnaise

cheese

hamburger patty

mustard

bun (made with sprouted rice)

Now I really want to go to Mosburger! Terrible timing- my husband has offered to take me out for a fancy dinner tonight, AND cook dinner for me tomorrow. Both extremely rare occurances. And all I can think about is fast food...

Thanks alot, eGullet! :hmmm:
