a trick I learned quite some time ago :
when layering up your sandwich ;
remember you might be planning to cut it
in 1/2 (?) before inhaling it.
even the finest knife , property maintained
can 'squish ' the sandwich while cutting through
the top slice of bread.
solution :
cut the top slice
before
you place it on top.
