I always soak dried beans before cooking. As it happens, I have some pintos soaking on the counter right now for cooking up with bacon, jalapenos and onion for tomorrow night's dinner. I find that I get less burst skins this way, but I cook mine in an electric crock pot.

 

There's a thread that has a lot of positive opinions for no-soak oven method beans here:

So you would probably be fine either way.
