There is an above average cuchifritos shop on Clitnon and Delancey still if I'm not mistaken.

Yes. I've also been informed that the NE corner of Rivington and Clinton is a cuchifritos joint, although I'm not sure if it's the same one from the '80's (I'll find out in two weeks when I'm back in the old neighborhood).
