OK, I know this sounds really strange. But my friend's grandmother actually had a recipe for this, I think from a Baker's Chocolate recipe book? Does anyone have any info? We have a plethora of peaches here in Ontario, and want to try this.

it looks like the recipe calls for canned peaches which aren't going to be as juicy as fresh, so perhaps since you're planning on using fresh, just to catch some stray juices, toss the peaches in a bit of cornstarch before arranging?

but there's a chance you might be safe if the choco cake has good structure. in the pineapple upside down cake recipe I use, the cake is quite rustic and dense, so it can handle the weight of the pineapples.

A recipe for Peach Upside-Down Chocolate Cake is offered by California Cling Peach Board. I baked this cake (using fresh fruit) two months ago for an octogenarian neighbor of mine who is very fond of peaches -- and chocolate, too.
