RIP Takohachi

Recommended Posts

Takohachi over in the ID closed it's doors today. Sometimes described as Japanese Soul food, they to me represented what Japanese food was really about. I love Sushi as much as the next guy, but there are so few places where you can get a decent bowl of Ramen in Seattle or a piping hot bowl of Nabe in the winter. Really sad to see them go.

I don't have anything more to say about it, except that Takohachi was easily one of my top five restaurants in Seattle.

Who else has good broiled mackerel?

Fuji?

(Hey, Iris is looking and sounding pretty darn cute. Thanks FNTV)

That's a good idea; I've only been to Fuji once, but I liked it a lot.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable replacement? I am quite bummed that they are gone.

Isn't that a suggestion? Fuji is very attractive, not too expensive, and I've always had a nice meal there. I don't think I ever went to Takohachi - was it more like Maneki? Food isn't too bad, it is very inexpensive, and since they quit allowing smoking, it isn't as uncomfortable. But lots of history.
